Can't Wait For Football To Start

This is gonna be Vince Young's year - look at all the red/white defenders on every play:

maybe that's why it hasn't caught on. yeah, i know there are a few intl leagues, but they are probably pretty small.

Its most likely not catching on as fast because of how organized the game has to be on every level for it to even take place. With most sports you can make by with a court and a ball, I get pickup games of basketball going a few times a week at the local courts, you just need players and a ball. Same thing with soccer, you can play on any field you just need some people and a soccer ball. Football is different due to all of the equipment and how important it is to have 11 players on each team. Once I was done playing football in HS, like most others, you never get to suit up again (unless you do it like some odd ball at a sporting good store). Someone has to organize leagues from the youth levels all the way up to the college level in Europe, then it would catch on.

I'll be at college in Pittsburgh next fall and I'm looking forward to going to Heinz Field to watch the Ravens beat the Steelers!

Football season is the one sport I make a half hearted attempt to follow. I also try and make it to a couple of college games per year.

The rest of the sports simply bore me.

after i stopped playing i kinda lost track of american football and only watched the super bowl every other year. last two super bowls were amazing. almost made me want to join my local team again. almost.

there are so many things that make american football a great sport - not just the big hits.

af is definitely one of the thoughest sports but arguing about what's the thoughest sport just makes you look stupid.

Why are people arguing about the physical hits in the game?! None of you are professional athletes so why does it matter, if you want physical power over tactics watch ultimate fighting..

physical power over tactics? dude you dont know shit about mma.

NCAA is where it's at. I don't really like the NFL, don't ask me why because I have no idea.

With the Big Ten expansion and speculation of other conferences expanding (ACC, SEC) it's actually getting to where it will become a de facto playoff system of sorts.
Ya, I guess. I really want to like college football, but I'm w/ UG. Until there is some kind playoff system I refuse to get into it. It really wouldn't be that hard to implement. The bowl system is completely gay IMHO.

The bowl system isn't going anywhere. There's just way too much money in it for the conferences and therefore, the schools. Plus, implementing a "true" playoff system will be a coordination and scheduling nightmare, though it certainly could be done.

I used to hate the current bowl system and the way its handled as well, but I've kind of learned to let go. In the end, it really does work...in a way. Not the best way, but in a way.

But its not really about all that for me, to be honest. I've just always loved college football. I grew up watching it and everyone I knew was either a huge ACC team fan or SEC team fan. It's really all about the atmosphere - there's NOTHING like going to a big college football game - absolutely nothing.
