So....I guess you are forgetting the webpage you referenced in an earlier post that says
Lol, we got beaten in a battle. We didn't carry on the war, despite being massively more powerful than what was, at the time, a tiny fledgling nation. It was a pretty embarassing time in Britain when that happened, because we generally considered ourself reasonably unbeatable in battle.
But that war was a different type of war, that caught us by surpise. It wasn't really stand in a field and shoot at each other until one side quits. Bit like how when Blitzkrieg was implemented for the first time, the French didn't know what the fuck to do.
In reality, we had just finished years of war with France, had no money left, were fighting for what was essentially an undeveloped chunk of land a 6 month journey away, and had to deal with the process of fighting a war 1000's miles away which at that time was a logistical pain in the ass.
Not to mention that the only real benefit that Britain got from America at that time was cheap cotton. So, we invaded Egypt instead, close to where we already had developed colonies in Africa. Which is why Egyptian cotton is the best in the world these days.
After that, we just went back to fighting the French.
At the end of the day though, it's a pointless argument. Americans alive today have about as much to do with the War of Independence as I did with the Battle of Trafalgar. The most important thing is that we are going to win tomorrow.
