Oh btw, nice job casually leaving off the last sentence of the article you posted.

The top-drawing TV markets Saturday: San Diego, where 11.5% of households tuned in, followed by San Francisco at 11.2%. That 7.5 overnight is for coverage including the hour-long pregame that began at 1:30 p.m. ET. ABC's game coverage, which began at 2:30 p.m. ET, drew a 9.0 overnigh

The 7.5 included the hour-long pre-game show. The actual game footage/coverage got a 9.0, which to me is really fucking impressive for the first game of the Cup. Like I said, the NBA Finals only got a 10.6 for their first game. As the games get more important, more people will watch, not really a difficult concept to grasp.

And if you think interest in soccer will die over the long run, you'd be wrong. TV ratings for the WC have consistently gone higher every event. The main reason it isn't bigger here is due to lack of local access to world class teams/talent. Nobody in the US wants to watch the World's 49th best team play the 100th ranked team. Once owners start buying some big name players to come play in the MLS, the sport could be huge.

Better get used to it :)

Oh yeah just like David Beckham was suppose to revolutionize soccer in the US right?

Woulda watched it but the Home and Garden channel had a "watching paint dry" marathon on.

Haters going to hate man.

Apparently.

Oh yeah it's "behavior" not "behaviour". Let me explain how it works, when you crack on someone elses grammar your next response should be at minimum spelled right. Oh my bad, it's a euro thing.

Yes, it is a Euro thing. That why the language is called "English" and not "Americanish".

And LoL at you if you think your are trolling anyone. You're the one that keeps making yourself look like an idiot over and over again. I'm just happy to lend you a helping hand. Carry on!

I was looking for more soccer tactics like how they pass in a triangle. I'm having a hard time understanding from a broad point of view how the game works.

Is it like controlling space and then passing the ball through it or something?

I think you, and all the other soccer fanbois, are helping me prove my point.

I'm not even in here defending Football. I'm just helping you look like the retard that you are.

Oh you are here defending soccer. Why else would you be in this thread trying to make me look like a jackass then?

To be honest, you are probably best off just sitting down and watching a few games. I can see how it would be boring if you aren't really sure what you are watching. That's partly why, as people in this thread have mentioned, when they watch it with people who know the game, they get it.

If you watch the world cup, soon enough you will begin to see the skill and tactics as they play. It is more subtle and patient than most American sports, but it's also a hell of a lot more fun once you get into it.

Soccer is more than scoring, it is all the skills, physical abilities involved.

A great first down doesn't always end up on the score board. Do you only care about scoring when you watch football? Do you not care about the play? The great first down? The great throw? Do all the great plays always end up on the score board? No.

If you count 1 pt for every football touch down, football and soccer scores will not be far off. Calling soccer not a sport is just retarded, soccer is more of a sport than football, at least there is no break between every play in soccer.

I have never even heard of American football until I came to the US. When I first saw the sport on TV, I was like, wtf is this gay shit of people throwing and running around with an egg. It was boring as fuck and after I learn the rules and understand the game, I now think football is a great sport.

I have posted this picture in all your soccer hating thread, I am going to post it again.

You call that fat ass an athletic ?

You call that fat ass an athletic ?

Nope, but I also don't call a 1A class high school player a pro level athlete to compare to athletes in the world cup. Plus for all you know, the dude could bench like 400lbs, squat 1000, etc. The guys in the world's strongest man contests look fat as hell.
