WTF do i have to do to convert 4k daily uv to some money?!

Got nothing to give away in the first place lol

create something, anything really. Off the top of my head, go buy a book like Beat the Street by Peter Lynch take a chapter and rewrite it, convert it into a pdf report and mail that out. Subscribe to someone else's list look at what they send out and then create your own version of this.

Those might not be great ideas but the key is to take some action

If you don't want to do the work, outsource it, Vinny Lingo on here was offering a mailshot service not too long ago

the thing is my traffic is very diverse not every one wants the same thing...
most of the people coming towards me are unemployed (Yet they make me money...ah the irony)

and some are looking for updates on bills (i got backlinks from open congrress :p)

and the rest are just looking for random stuff

do you have any idea how much load on a server it is to run 500 constant queries?

i have to work on the db 24/7 since my server isnt as big... i got a duo core with 2gb ram

what i need is a quad core with 4gb ram..

but hey i guess ill either sell this or wait till i have more money :p

i worked on the db right now u shouldnt get any errors

Ugly bitch on the main page scared me off.

The above comments have been really helpful, you should take all of them into account. I agree with changing the color scheme to a much lighter one, I'd go for black/white/red or green/white/blue. The two huge adsense ads on top are very annoying and IMO everything is all over the place, you need to give the site a much "cleaner" look.

I'm assuming you're more of a programmer than a marketer so I'll pass by later when I have more time and give you some tips on how to monetize the site.

I will say one thing for what you're doing, the side by side 300x250 adsense blocks are the way to go. I use them on a bunch of sites, and I get a consistent CTR of around 5-6% which is pretty strong. If you continue to monetize with adsense, keep that going at least. I do agree about going with a more 'professional' and trustworthy looking theme.

With your niche, I'd think you'd be averaging in the $0.50 to $0.75+ cents per click. Financial has traditionally been relatively high paying.

efeezy...you're the second best comment in this thread! (after the ugly bitch comment obviously)

And yea ill be going with a new theme scheme tomorrow then show you guys what kinda stats I got from changing the theme. - I changed my theme to black because I had some crappy ctr with the white one.

and im getting around 0.90-1.45 per clicl :p

I'm not sure why you came on here for advice if you're then going to get all defensive and say people are wrong - because you're a designer... If you know so much why do you want advice?

It's been proven countless times that black on white is more readable than white on black. Also, don't split test it for 2 days, do a full week at least, because every day of the week is different.

To me your site has "nothing to see here" written all over it. I'd click back quick as fuck because i can see it's confusing, almost entirely filled with ads above the fold and I simply wouldn't have the energy to find what's worth reading. Afterall, in my opinion, a site like that shows an owner who is offering nothing, because why else would he/she make the ads the focal point?

If someone has decent content, they care about their content, they want it seen, they want it read and then if someone clicks an ad, nice. Make the site look like you're proud of your content a bit more.

This might also affect your clicks, because finding a site confusing or spammy, doesn't make me click a ad, it makes me click back. If i stick for a while and read, then i might read an ad. If the ad is decent i may then click.

My gut says you can't keep people on the site long enough to get anything from them, although i'm sure you'll tell me they spend ages browsing because you're a designer. :)

What is your bounce rate?

So you're only getting 9 clicks a day, with over 4000 UV's. Holy shit. Something ain't working. The other option as far as design goes, when I think of financial sites, I think of grey, blue and black. The Wall Street Journal site is probably why this comes to mind. WSJ is a little busy, but just the look has a ton of credibility, even without the name attached, and it also shouts "hey, we have quality information here, you can trust us, and don't be afraid to click on an advertisement or two". That's what you want for your financial site. The black doesn't instill trust. If people trust you, they'll click.

If you want some help monetizing it on the side let me know, I'll do it for a sitewide link :P <3

Okay, since you guys are so passionate about me changing my theme/colors.

I tell ya what..

Let's do a little experiment!

After today's stats, I'll change the theme to a lighter more trust worthy color scheme, and then ill come back with :

2 days of adsense stats with the black theme
2 days of adsense stats with the new trust worthy theme

along that the cb stats

how does that sound?

should be interesting, i was about to comment on the design as well

@-God- Im not getting defensive at all you're being a bit offensive though trying to make it look like I'm acting all high and mighty when you're doing that and making tons of assumptions.

1. bounce rate is through the roof
2. i dont have any good content to begin with
3. people hardly stay 3 mins on the site at best
4. God damnit I'm a designer and I'm hella proud of it lol

@efeezy I agree totally and that's why I'm gonna have a complete do oever of the site tmrw and make it a bit more 'trust worthy' i guess hehe

and i know somethin ain't working damnit why do you think im so frustrated lol

but hey can't give up just yet, i was focussing on getting authority/traffic so much i forgot about monetizing the damn thing :S

@ Miguel Angelito

Hehe thanks ill be sure to make this as interesting as possible :p

Sorry mate, reading it back that did sound rather aggressive. I do have that rather unfortunate side to my tone at times! lol

I didn't realise you didn't have any good content either, i assummed it was decent, although i still can't be arsed to check. :)

well whether i have the content or not is not the issue it never really was with my sites all i really had to do was get the rankings and when people come in they get bombarded with ads and sooner or alter they convert (within the day) my split tests are usually 24 hour long because i dont like losing money through a week.
