I'm not sure why you came on here for advice if you're then going to get all defensive and say people are wrong - because you're a designer... If you know so much why do you want advice?
It's been proven countless times that black on white is more readable than white on black. Also, don't split test it for 2 days, do a full week at least, because every day of the week is different.
To me your site has "nothing to see here" written all over it. I'd click back quick as fuck because i can see it's confusing, almost entirely filled with ads above the fold and I simply wouldn't have the energy to find what's worth reading. Afterall, in my opinion, a site like that shows an owner who is offering nothing, because why else would he/she make the ads the focal point?
If someone has decent content, they care about their content, they want it seen, they want it read and then if someone clicks an ad, nice. Make the site look like you're proud of your content a bit more.
This might also affect your clicks, because finding a site confusing or spammy, doesn't make me click a ad, it makes me click back. If i stick for a while and read, then i might read an ad. If the ad is decent i may then click.
My gut says you can't keep people on the site long enough to get anything from them, although i'm sure you'll tell me they spend ages browsing because you're a designer.
