So I got this PDF, I have to make it editable basically where a user downloading the file can type in the fields with acrobat reader. I don't have Acrobat Pro for the mac, and Adobe does not provide a trial for it for macs either.

Are there alternative software I could use to make a PDF (which isn't locked) fillable by acrobat reader?

The reader can't put text in files. Try this: PDFescape - Free PDF Editor & Free PDF Form Filler - Your Free Online PDF Reader, Editor, Form Filler, Form Designer, Solution

Ok, I got it done with Acrobat Pro 8 Trial, got the forms highlighted, resaved it with Acrobat Reader Usage Rights.

I think some of you were rather confused at what I intended, I wanted the forms to be typeable by anyone who downloaded it and had acrobat reader.

What are you doing with the form information once it's filled in?
Are you making a button in the pdf that emails the form info off to you?
If so, does it work well? Does reimporting the info on your side work ok?

Cheers
