400 clicks to an auto insurance zip submit... 16 conversions!

That's an interesting point. How would one make sure of that? Is there a script for it or something?

I've gotten a 55% conversion with an insurance zip submit before. A lot of them now only count the 'lead' after the insurance company is clicked on the second page. Anyway, just split test it with a few full lead gen forms and keep what works.

I have a lot better conversions with full quote forms from insurance lead companies than I ever did with network zip submits. You would think that would not be true. hmmm?

i.e. Full health quote - normal 20 - 25% conversions
switch to this wonderful zip submit - 1 in 50
back to full health quote

I didn't waste too much time worrying about it - but just went back to dealing with insurance lead companies, and not networks

As for selling to insurance agencies - I've done that too, and it isn't much fun. IMO - concentrate on grabbing leads and let somebody else worry about collecting money from the agents.

The only time I did well collecting leads for an agent, it was for mysef. :)

Scrubbing . Whatever the reason behind. But its better to make own Zip submit. Then forward it to some Insurance offer and keep them mailing for whole life.

Snore.

Zip submit. Advertiser has a set scrub % based on the history of how well the users convert on the backend. 'tis how the world turns.

Just make a newsletter and send it to the emails you're catching in aweber if you aren't already, you seem smart enough to already be doing that though.

It's affiliates like you that act like this is OK, that allow advertisers to do it more and more. Stick up for your fucking self. It's a very slippery slope and people who post publicly either here or on their fake guru blogs that "it's just the way it is" are just plain acting idiotic and have no idea how real business works.

I notice most of the guys who do have this view are just over 20. Why don't you be an advertiser, set up terms, and try to scrub a guy like me? I will fucking break you in court and show you just "how it is" when you are doing business and fucking people over that you shouldn't be.

For every idiot affiliate that says scrubbing is OK, I guarantee you that you've been pegged instantly by at least a few shady souls to scrub you in the future. Why wouldn't they, you just publicly admitted you are "cool" with getting ripped off like a bitch. Even a network or individual who doesn't usually scrub might not pass up on an opportunity for such a SUCKER comment.. hey you write free money on your forehead what do you expect?

Uhhhh scrubbing is ok.

If you're getting paid $3/submit, and the advertiser can sell the lead for $30 to an auto insurance company that means that 10% of the submits need to convert to leads for the advertiser to break even. If a publisher's lead quality is below that, what the fuck is an advertiser supposed to do? Run it at a loss?

So it's either cut you from the offer altogether or scrub. I'd much rather be scrubbed on an offer than told I can't run it anymore.

Lower payouts would be much better than scrubbing IMO. How about a network that adjust your payout according to quality?

How about you just loan me money and if I can't pay you back on time, I'll also skip the interest. Because hey, what the fuck what am I supposed to do, take a loss? You sound like a fucking mob running a racket with comments like that.

The answer is gtfo out the game and make room for an advertiser with a profitable business model that's still attractive as is for an affiliate to run. What does it say about yourself if you knowingly run a campaign you know isn't sustainable, so you know you'll get scrubbed?

If affiliates don't put up with the bullshit, advertisers will have no choice but to make our slice of the pie more juicy, but if you lie down like a fur rug then you will get stepped on.

So why get paid $3 when you can go direct and get paid $8?

They pay $8 if you have a high quality score... I have one account that pays $9 per click and one that pays $1.50 per click.

This is why the zip submit people are not paying you for every zip submit, they see what they are making and adjust accordingly.

You didn't understand what I'm saying (or you're intentionally putting words in my mouth). If the leads suck of course the advertiser will lose money at the beginning, and that's ok. But are they required to keep running an offer with a publisher they know is losing them money? At that point (as I said before) the only 2 things advertisers do is scrub or cut the affiliate. So which would you rather have happen?

I'm running a campaign that that gives me huge margins but the traffic quality sucks. After getting kicked from a bunch of offers I finally found an advertiser that scrubs. Now we're both happy. I'm not getting cut from offers, I'm still making money because my margins are awesome and the campaign can run profitably even with scrubbing, and he's making money because he's scrubbing to make up for the shitty quality I'm sending him. How is this setup bad for either side?

Scrubbing is what is allowing both of us to make money. Without scrubbing I wouldn't have an offer to run my profitable campaign, and he'd be getting screwed over because my lead quality sucks. I'd understand if you'd want advertisers to be more transparent about lead quality and scrubbing (maybe by making dynamic payouts or something like that), but the system itself makes complete sense. I don't think scrubbing is the issue, I just wish people would be more transparent about it.

same thing happened to me, with email submit, it was converting at 8% and then i made the copy of advertisers lander on my host and actual conversion was you won't believe 45%.
network was NB
