May want to block e-cig ads

Done

Very nicely designed but you need to change your headline (i.e. "Welcome to..." to something else)

Done. Thoughts?

You should probably fix the grammer errors on the homepage.

Done.

Fix the header navigation to work without Javascript.

Not fixed. Will go into next release cycle.

why is it aligned to the left? it looks really odd on 1920x1080.. IMO, it would look better centered

Done. For both the main site and the forum.

a. Improve the visibility of your registration function, make sure your visitors know its an option, right now it took me a while to find it.

Done. There is now a nicely stylized login/register box on the homepage that appears for any anonymous user.

- The create upload feature is nice, but I would personally lose that weird looking background to the description field.

Done. Plain white now.

More cowbell.

Done.

Thanks to everyone who gave me their suggestions. A super big thanks to AngryAffiliate who spent quite a few hours trying to help me navigate the complexities of the center alignment CSS. A true asset to the community.

With all that said, what do you guys think now?

Also, check out http://www.middleschoolhq.com/members_only and let me know what you think of the layout/content.

Jesus those ads, lol.. between the animation of the 3 ads you have + http://www.middleschoolhq.com/images/school_3.gif - I almost had a seizure.

I would remove the school_3.gif I linked, and design a simple button that stands out a lot more. "Click Here To Get Started!" does not stand out at all, need more clear call to action there. It also looks like a banner, so some people will skip right over that.

I wanted to see how course notes would be uploaded, so I registered; however, the 'contribute' link gives me some 'access denied' error. In terms of usability and note uploading, I think some kind of Evernote integration would be pretty neat. Personally, I wouldn't spend the time transcribing my notes to upload them to such a community site, but I would definitely use my iPhone to take pictures of my notes and upload them. I personally store documents on my Evernote account via iPhone with this method, and the readability good. You might even have some kind of subscription service whereby you can select the course(s)/subject/etc you want and then have them automatically sent to your Evernote account (via your Evernote e-mail).

Also, what are the benefits of accumulating Cnotes$? Can you monetize that in the same way World Golf Tour does? That is, you gain access to notes either by uploading your own notes, paying for Cnotes$, or completing affiliate offers. I'm not sure how well that would work for high school students as opposed to golf-obsessed professionals, but just a thought (also, I'm not exactly sure how many HS students use Evernote in the first place).

How about monthly contests for students who accumulate the most Cnotes$?

Sorry I don't have any actual layout/design suggestions...

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I'm definitely looking into integrating some type of evernote or scibd type functionality. I've fixed the error that was causing you to receive the access denied message. Please try again if you are still interested. Thank you for bring that to my attention.

In regards to the benefits of getting cnote$, you need to obtain a certain level of cnotes to gain access to the premium content on the site. Users can earn points by either contributing documents, filling out offers, or possibly in the future paying for it.

Also, in regards to the name cnote$, what are your thoughts of using that instead of something standard like User Points? Course Notes = CNotes = $100 bill = cnote$. That was my logic there. Stupid?

Monthly contests are a good idea. Definitely something I was considering. I'm thinking even the top 10 contributors get course notes tshirts or other gear.

Ah yes, the 'contribute' link works now. I see that you do have the file upload capability. I actually like the 'cnote$' as opposed to some generic name. I didn't get the logic right away (I don't regularly hear the term c-note in reference to a $100 bill); I assumed it just meant 'course dollars' or something similar. How about some kind of slick graphic to kind of brand the concept of course dollars?

Also, just randomly throwing out ideas SOC style, but if you wanted to make it really easy for kids to provide notes (and hopefully add tons of content), you could give out cnote$ to kids who physically mail in notebooks. That way you could bulk scan and package them as complete 'semester notebooks' on a particular subject. That might be a bit too cumbersome, and not worth the effort, however. Maybe the reward could be higher for people who do this, and you could request note samples to gauge for quality before they mail it in. Is there some kind of document archive company that you can outsource this to?

Why is the Registration Box located at the Bottom Right?

I would assume that you want registered members. Shouldn't that be the first thing a visitor should see. I would keep it above the premium content, or at least immediately below it if you want to keep the premium content on top for your own reasons.

There is a register now Link at the bottom anyway for those who read the Register now Copy
