So I'm reading this exaggerated but still pretty sad article on CNN about child labor in Kenya.

And to the right is the NewsPulse of most popular stories.

Ugh. I hate people sometimes.
 


It's harder to connect with a boy in Kenya than it is with a random American woman. Most people in American haven't even seen a goat in real life let alone killed one.
 
you should be happy the average american doesn't give a shit about world hunger or world events because then they would probably be skinny from a relatively healthy, low-fat diet and wouldn't buy all your diet pills.

They would also donate more, be less materialistic and therefore would also cease to buy your shamwows and snuggies.
 
The cynicism in this thread will later be used to rationalize peddling the scammiest and fakest products that most IM'ers push.

You can bitch about Americans all you want. Yes our country has its issues. BUT we also shell out tons of our money for international aid and try to be a good global citizen. Not saying we don't drop the ball on occasion. But the Average American donates money to things like world hunger.

but really can I get that wow snuggie in an xl? my roommate will go nuts over it. :food-smiley-010:

Seriously. I feel for people in other countries who don't have anything, but what can I really do besides give money? Go over there and suffer with them, no thank you...

It's just old news.

People care, but it's the same story over and over

Children are starving, we send money, governments steal money and buy weapons, we send more money......

China will change things over there soon anyway, they send money and chinese people to look after that money to make sure it gets spent on roads and factories.

Locals get jobs, chinese make money on their investment, everybody wins.
