Edit: and yeah schmidt is right. It's all a bucket of laughs way out on the internet, but if I saw a guy in a pedo costume going after my kid I'd knock him down and stomp his face.
A registered sex offender wearing the pedobear costume in public.... lol they could have at least tried flying under the radar.

Humour aside, Fox's stupid scaremongering is actually damaging. The reality is that the people you have to watch out for are trusted and close. They are your neighbours, brothers, husbands, boyfriends, in-laws, uncles, friends, babysitters, sport coaches and piano teachers. You trust them with your children regularly and have no worries leaving them alone for extended periods.
If parents believe the media, that the biggest threat is from strangers 'out there' on the streets getting their jollies from simply being near a child, then they will more likely miss real abuse going on right under their noses.
Besides that, if I ever had anyone pegged for a pedo, it would be Bill O'Reilly.

I was with you until the O'Reilly part. You had a perfectly logical, sensible statement, and then you had to go screw it up by taking a stab at O'Reilly, just because he's on the opposite end of the political spectrum from you.

Seriously though, people like O'Reilly and Beck don't just get flack because of their political views--they get it because they're dicks. You ever hear people say shit like that about George F. Will? That guy's a real conservative, 10x more than O'Reilly and 100 times more than Beck (who's basically just an opportunist). But he's not the subject of too many potshots, because he doesn't spend his time dishing them out.
