10 Percent To Opt Out Of Federal Government

It sounds nice but there's no way I would jump on something like that without seeing the fine print. As I see it your just paying it as a fee to get out without getting arrested. So it doesn't necessary GO to anything. If it does, I would want to see exactly what it goes to then I would need to see the list of things I would then be responsible for, school, medical college (state schools), student loans...etc.

You could itemize where it goes more clearly, obviously just owing money without it going to anything beneficial to you or your family is pointless. The main points for me are; social security feels like a ponzi scheme and medicare is something that I personally would opt out from as well as other federal programs.

All the rich would opt out, and the remaining, lower bracket, taxpayers wouldn't be able to sustain government services with only their taxes. So effectively there won't be any government assistance for anyone.

Solid view, realistic.

The way it would have to work is the top 1% wealthiest citizens or so should not be given the option to opt-out. Some of the wealthiest individuals(bill gates, warren buffetWarren Buffett, Bill Gates ask billionaires to give away wealth | Reuters) have chosen to give away up to 98% of their personal wealth to charity, that shows they can afford to lose that much and still be confident and comfortable in the way they will live w/o that worth. That being said, those two guys are not like Bernard Ebbers or kenneth lay who also probably made up the 1%. This partition of tax revenue could probably keep the poor and sick alive.

It's an idealism with gaping holes in certain places, but it would be a nice option for the lower-middle to middle class if it could be worked out.

So basically you're saying that Gates, Buffet, and the other top 10 richest in the US would either have to SPONSOR the bill, or be forced, presumably at gunpoint, to foot the bill.

If I was one of those ten billionaires and I heard the bill was being sent to the hill, I'd be on a plane for Thailand so fast that I'd forget how to pronounce the word "America."

Bottom line here is this idea is a FAIRY TALE. -It ranks right up there with "Lets create Utopia in America."

There is just no way to make it monetarily feasible.

Every single way to make this idea come to light will require an act of Evil &/or Murder that is simply unconstitutional.

...And then the class struggles and revolt will start.

BAAAAAAADDDDDDDD Idea. :angryfire:

RON PAUL FOR RETIREMENT 2012.

I nominate Ron Paul for retroactive abortion.

And I'm about as right-wing conservative Repub as they come, gents.
That man is a fucking creationis-tard of the most dangerous kind- he superficially
sounds like he has a clue, but just dig a bit ;)

Vote wisely, mates.

It's unpragmatic to argue because I know it's not a possibility. But fyi there are hundreds of billionaires in the US, that make up the top 1%, not just 10. Anyway that's the only way it would work without the people who pull in half the revenue opting out, the poor not getting their foodstamps and welfare and then commencing to crime. It's not realistic, it's idealistic as i've said twice already. The richest people are consequently some of the smartest people and they would find ways around that even if they did tax the top 1-5% more. Rupert Murdoch has like 15 subsidiaries in the caymans and other tax havens, all the richest would be doing the same thing if they aren't already.

The bottom line for me is that if you basically take away what appears to be a good 90% of the federal budget, this country turns to India, or even Somalia overnight.

Fuckabunchathat.

2 important things are missing from that graphic to put it in perspective. That is total taxes paid NOT taxes paid as a percentage of income. Second the reason why its going up is because the rich are getting richer and the middle class and poor are getting poorer. Your income goes up so does your tax bill, pretty basic stuff.

And your Point, n00b?

It's still a representation of where the USA gathers its cash... So if the top 50% wage earners went over to a 10% flat fee, less than 4% of the present amount of income would be available to the fed. (Ok, plus the 10% from those 50%, but that is considerably less.)

And then we're already trillions in debt...

This county would fall right off the map if this were to pass.
