On the firing line
1978 Smith & Wesson Combat Revolver - otherwise known as the Model 19 - .357 magnum. Target trigger, target hammer, target sites. With original box, cleaning kit, and paperwork.

She loves me. :D

For those of you unfamiliar with Smiths, this is basically the little brother to Dirty Harry's gun - the model 29 .44 magnum.

After careful inspection, I'm not sure it's even been fired outside of the factory. If it was, it wasn't much, there's just not enough wear to indicate it was ever carried or fired.

Funny thing, she's never shown much interest in my guns until this showed up. She was "oooooo-ing" and "ahhhhh-ing" over it almost as much as I was.

I love my wife! :love-smiley-087:

Nice....Damn sometimes I really wish I lived in the States. How much would a gun like that cost by the way?

This one, in the condition it's in, prolly should have gone for $1200 - 1300, but I got super lucky and got a good deal on GunBroker.com.

(yeah, it was my account on GB, but it was a gift from her)

There's a "well-loved" Model 19 at the range I go to here in town, and they want $900 for it.

Hoping that our next anniversary brings a Colt Python..... :D

Thank God I don't live in the US. If my wife had free access to one of those, she would have already shot my ass...years ago...

Nice piece by the way.

Today is a GOOD DAY!! Just went out to the mailbox and the custom grips I ordered from Sarge just arrived!

The original grips were black rubber (thanks Kimber), great tactical grips, very "sticky". The previous grips (also by Sarge) are Amboyna Burl and finished in a high gloss. These new ones are Thuya Burl in a satin finish. I wish you guys could see the depth of figure in the grain.

I gotta plug Sarge's Grips again, the guy is an artist. Unfortunately, he's not doing revolver grips yet (I already asked), but if you have a semi-auto, hit him up. He specializes in 1911's, but I know he has done some other models. There's a video on YT from a guy that got his Tanfoglio reshod by Sarge.

So do you shoot it? or is more of an antique?

I'll shoot it. It's not a high end collector's item that you have to be afraid of shooting.

Bet your ass I'm burning some ammo this weekend!

I came into this thread very worried about what happened. I am very happy to be wrong and even happier to see gun pron. Nice pickup sir, very jealous and congrats to you and your lady.

Wow, nice pickup! Man, I gotta train my wife...today's our 5th and I got a card, lol.

That Smith and the Colt Python you mentioned are the only revolvers I lust after. Don't have either yet.
That's probably going to to be a nice shooter with .38. Congrats.

EDIT: forgot to say, also, those grips Sarge did look sick. Really nice burl.

Congrats.

nice gun!

ever have hallway sex with your wife? (I'm married almost 20 years and i sure have!!)

... that's when she passes you in the hallway and yells 'Fuck You' then you scream back 'No! Fuck You!'

Ah memories.

She gave you a gun as a 10 year anniversary present?

Yes

@GerardWon: fucking hilarious man! Busted out laughing because it's true.

@DanWesson: yeah, that's about all I got for my 5 year as well.

I got lucky this year, she didn't know what to get, and I got her something she really wanted - an outdoor fireplace, not a pit, but a damn fireplace, no kidding. She was doing the happy crying and all, so I just kinda slid it in "welllllll...... if you want to know what I really want...." and it worked!

What's the odds I'll ever have that opportunity again? You married guys know.
