12yo mini Steve Jobs

Don't know about well spoken, but when I was that age I was running a very large site which was getting 500,000 visits/day based on software I had written (which was subsequently featured in an AP article which got me on the front page of Yahoo, on CNN, etc.)

I wasn't giving presentations on TED, but that probably has more to do with the fact that my parents aren't well connected techies who live in LA, than what my actual accomplishments were.

Thats pretty awesome man. Link?

Point of the thread was just to show an impressive kid that should inspire any whinny fuck making excuses about their life.

"harry potter spoilers proliferate" - Google Search

I'm not personally mentioned by name (thankfully), but I owned zendurl.com from when I was 12 up until I turned 16.

So, BlokBlok asks if anybody that age is that well spoken, and you reply with "BRAGBRAGBRAGBRAGBRAG...but I didn't have the opportunity to be well spoken so I wasn't."

Is there any other purpose to your post aside from bragging? You quote BlokBlok as if you're responding to him, but your response has nothing to do with his question.
It more has to do with me always being being upset with people judging my business saviness by age. I remember when running the site people I would talk to would make a big deal regarding my age (either as a good thing or a bad thing), and it was maddening to me. Somebodies age should have nothing to do whether they get featured in a story or not. Judge people by their collective work, or what they're doing, not by their age (or race or gender). What the person in the OP did was not a big deal at all and should be a non-story.

Just like if somebody made a post talking about how amazing it was for a black person to start a business, you'd say "this story is only relevant because of his race, which isn't a good reason for a story to be relevant".

I like where this is going. I can feel the mad building.

In other words, it had nothing to do with the quote you responded to. That's all I was calling out, but below you leave some juicy tidbits of knowledge...

lol, race and gender are completely separate from age. Everybody has the same age. Not everybody is a black female.

No,

Fair enough.

No, they are not completely separate. I have no control over what age I am, just like a black person has no control over whether they are black or not, and a woman has no control over whether they were born as a guy or a girl.

Judge people based on things they have control over, not things they don't have control over.

I remember having this exact disagreement on Wickedfire before, and I stand very strongly behind this.

cardine umad? Maybe we can get you on tedx to fill that empty spot from your childhood. But brush up on your speaking skills, or be shown up by a 12 y/o!

I poorly explained myself. You're right that you don't have control over age, race, and gender (kind of lol). But I think there's a much stronger "intelligence curve" when it comes to age as opposed to race or gender. It's not at all impressive to watch a 30 year old man play an extremely basic version of Jingle Bells on the guitar, but the same action performed by a 2 year old is something impressive.

Now in this example, the odds are simply against the 12 year old kid because his brain is less developed, his resources are somewhat limited to what his parents give him, and he's a kid in middle school! Showing such drive and public speaking skill is impressive, almost entirely because of his age.
