$60 is a riiip off although some clubs here in do sell it for that(which is rediculous cause they usually sell a gram of oil for the same price)
Also the fact that he says its harsh and someone looking for a smooth smoke should look elsewhere... thats just scary, the only reason for it to be harsh is that they dont purge all the butane out of the oil while they're rendering it.

Yeah I've made oil a few times when I was 10 years younger.
It's pretty easy and you can actually make some really potent shit out of leaves a grower would normally throw out.
I'm no rocket scientist but butane has a low boiling point and it should boil itself off in less than 10-15 minutes or so - at least this was my experience.
What you're left with is the sticky goo that crushes souls and makes cold hearted hookers blush.

like certain apparel, cosmetics, etc. some aren't much different than the competition and its about packaging and price

Most of it maybe but if you don't purge oil small amounts of butane stay suspended in the oil and thats the ONLY way to have harsh oil.
Properly purged hash oil is one of the smoothest shits you can smoke as long as you dont try and thunder lung it

anyway, this guy always slipped and burned himself in the same spot just under his lip
we should have had a pool. he never went more than 3 or 4 weeks before he'd do it again. it started looking really gross, but he kept doing it

I actually bought a gram of this for the hell of it at a local disp. They only charged me $40 though. It was a pretty rough smoke but 2 hits and I was fucking blazed out of my mind.
Overall I would say save your money (esp @ $60/gram) and buy some hash or make your own with your leftover keif

It's all just marketing. Marketing is HUGE with weed, I can tell you all about the naming and pricing experiments I've done before sometime. You can completely steer people to certain things every time.
Example : If you have "xyz kush" for $60 and "Super xyz kush" for $60 as well people will get the "Super xyz kush" pretty much every time and be happy about it, regardless of which is better. You can switch the names around to get rid of what ever is in stock.
Acetone, butane? You gotta be kidding. I could fly to Jamaica, chill out and get a pound of the best Clarendon Black Leaf for all that money.
