You people with no connects aren't looking hard enough. Become a patron at a local sportsbar (even if it's just for dinner, not to get drunk every night). Be sure to frequent the patio/smoking section and create some coversation. Before you know it you'll be smoking a j and have found a hook up.
At least that's what it's like here in Colorado
It's definitely stressful though, and luckily I haven't had to do it in a couple years. In my opinion, you should just be nervous if you are the seller.
