Quarterly tax form for how much you helped the government steal out of the checks of your employees.

heh, reminds me of time I forgot / didn't care to file a quarterly GST (fed sales tax in Canada) return. Little while later, get a letter from Revenue Canada in the mail, telling me I owe them EXACTLY 7% of all deposits to my business account during that quarter, to the penny.

I was pissed off at the time. Who the fuck gave you guys the authorization just to go mozying on through my bank account transactions like that? Fuck off. I only owed them maybe 3% of the amount anyway, because majority of customers weren't Canadian residents. Only way they could have came up with that exact amount though is if they had full access to my bank accounts.

I had a mom for 18 years, and that was good enough. Don't need a big brother for the rest of my life, but thanks anyway.

Just be glad you've never dealt with FTB, which is the agency for California. Which itself is one of the biggest world economies.

Just recently the FTB now has the ability to seize assets directly from pretty much any US bank account they want. No need to be a citizen or live in California or anything of course. The fun part is they will seize the money first then ask you about the paperwork.

So in your example the FTB would have likely just taken the amount they determined you owed and let you file paperwork to prove they should give you any of it back.

I had that issue with FTB but thankful it was before they had the bank seizure ability without a court order. So they just stuck a tax lien on my credit profile before even contacting me. The issue was a 1099 that had my business EIN and was paid and accounted through my business but had my name on it also so they just *assumed* it should be for personal despite the fact it had an EIN and not my social. So when they found a 1099 they thought I hadn't made a tax payment on what portion did they assume was profit that must have taxes paid on it? Oh 100% of course!

Also if any one has any tax/accounting issues for US based entities feel free to reach out. I'm now officially pimping my wife's amazing accounting/tax skills. Realistically she likely doesn't have time currently to take on new business. But at the same time she pretty much never likes to turn down good work. She also works faster and respond to emails faster than anyone you'll ever meet.
