The Wife is cooking some sauerkraut and mashed potatoes and that goes great with a cold brew:xmas-smiley-016:. I usually get one of my favorites (Tennents, Pen Pilsner or Red Rocket Ale) but I'm looking for something new to try. The sixpack shop up the street has just about every micro brew and import you can think of, so I can try a few. Any suggestions?

Not a micro-brewery, but the most buzzworthy beer I know of.
 
Unfortunately, you never told us where you were. And you only get Winter Ale in... the winter.

I'm in Western PA. Taking notes and I'm leaving in a few. I'll let you know which ones I try and give a quick review later.
 
Ok so here is what we have. I tried to grab some of the others mentioned but they were out of them. She said she will have more in next week so I'll try and grab some up then.
First up we have Spaten (since it got a couple of votes):
This one I'll give a 7/10, very clean and not very hoppy (could use a little more hop flavor imo). If you like a smooth clean beer I don't think you could go wrong with this one. Good looks SP.

Ah, they used to do a nice seasonal Bock as well, 8.5% I believe. Anything else by Granville Island would be fine though, the honey, the blonde, the pale ale, the amber... Local Flavours at Granville Island Brewing looks like they've got a few more that I haven't tried since I've been away for 5 years.

Otherwise I used to drink a ton of Shaftebury Honey, and OK Springs Pale Ale and Lager. Big Rock has some drinkable beer. Sleeman can be good.

That's barely scratching the surface but it's a good start on the more main stream Western Canadian offerings (Sleeman is eastern Canada though I think).
 
/\/\/\ Damn dude, that shit tastes like carbonated piss water. On the other hand, Natty light isn't to bad.

Up next is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - This one is more my style... the first sip hits you with a strong citrus flavor that is smoothed out with a slight hint of caramel. Medium hoppy flavor and great drinkability. I would give this one a 8/10. Not bad, not bad!

I stayed in a hotel on Granvile Island that had a brewery in it - forgot the name but I think the beer we had there was better than than some we tried from Granville Island Brewery.

While we're on the topic of great Western Canadian beers, the OK Springs Pale Ale is delicious.

But this stuff, tastes like pine trees in a fricken bottle:
