Just wanted to make a quick post about this, as I got a few messages about why it was done and was asked for what reason.
The thread in question was made by Katoved about a tool to lookup people's sites.
Now normally, no one would give a shit, but the thread clearly stated and listed Shoemoney's sites. For that, it automatically goes against one of the primary rules here at WF which is "don't harass other members". That post and thread was not a joke and was made to show people the power of the tool and the fact that he had found, and posted some of Shoemoney's url's.
A lot of you may think, oh that's completely harmless, but I have to tell you that it is more than that. When someone reaches a certain level of respect or popularity in the industry, the first negative type of popularity they get is from people trying to find their sites and post them.
There is a reason we keep them private, and that reason is our own, and in exchange for allllllllllllllll of the information and help we give to our peers, the one thing we really ask for is that they respect our privacy. If we want you to know the sites, we'll post them, if not, and you happen to come across it, keep it to yourself. Don't be a douchebag and post them on an open forum (especially one where the person who's sites were posted happens to also be an admin here - that was just REALLY dumb).
The reason I'm saying "we" and not "Shoe" is because this shit happens to me all the time. I used to get messages from all of these assholes literally threatening me with "if you don't help me with this and that, I'm going to find your sites and post them", and I would always think to myself, why would you blackmail someone like that when all you have to do is just ask and I would probably answer your question anyway? That's a different scenario, but it always played into people emailing me or PM'ing me with "I found these sites, are they yours?" and they werent, at least 99.9% of the time. Then one time someone found a few of them, but they were old and I never even used them anymore, but still, posted them with that whole "haha, look what I found!", and I went apeshit on him, because he was a cock for doing so. What do you get out of finding it out and posting it anyway? Money? Respect? Nope, none of the above. Instead you are just labeled a douchebag. That same cock came here, joined my forum, and then asked me if he could work for me. In Yiddish they call it "chutzpah".
Without rambling too much off topic, I just want to let everyone know that I back Shoemoney and all of my admins and mods on the decisions they make to moderate a thread or a post if it violates one of our rules. If you have a problem with it, take it up with them or me, but chance are I'll side with them, especially if it was for something like this. None of them abuse their powers, and all of them are on the WF team because they are well respected here and outside of WF. You have no idea how much of a great job they have been doing, whether it's deleting and banning spammers before anyone even notices it, or if it's policing the forums silently, they do a great job and we should all respect them for that.
This is not a big deal, just wanted to let everyone know about it, so that before you hit the PM > Jon button, you read this first and realize it was done for a reason, whether you agree or not, the chances that something was done against you personally for no reason at all are slim to none. And when you piss off an admin by posting his sites, sorry, that's a dog eat dog kind of response that you get by posting before you think.
Don't let it happen again. Warnings for all. Just please re-read the rules, they are there for a reason, not just to make this place look like we care.
