yea lol he looks like a nice helpless guy :/

The people they interviewed over webcam are total idiots. Clicking popup ads on emails? Fucking moron. Shutting down your bank account? "Not working a 9-5?"... hahah. "It said...ya know... recommended by Dr. Oz" ... people amaze me. "An F rating is the worst BBB rating"

The part that gets me though is around 11:00 when they are at some sort of Canadian Internet watchdog agency and the operator on the phone speaking with a "victim" says "we're going to open a second file for you since you've been targeted again." Targeted? What the fuck? No one is forcing anyone to buy anything.

I don't even promote this garbage and the consumer's idiocy astounds me.

Much agreed. I've always had a twisted sense of envy for the guys who can stomach this (i.e. scamming thousands of people and the shit storm that follows).

this shit storm is not shit.

sept 1. 2009 litterly WIPED OUT the autodialing industry.

thousands of call centers in us are sitting empty or downsized.

The enforcement arms are much harder to enforce online.

Looking at this video and that dude from australia is a fucking idiot.

The reporters a fucking idiot.

But the FTC is no joke when they decide to stop fucking around.

Even with all the lawsuits he'd still come out way ahead. Probably made almost a hundred million total and can settle all the Oprah, Dr Oz and Dazzle White lawsuits for no more then a couple million each. Those settlements should be tax deductable anyway.

It's easy to hate on him now that the media is doing it. But I doubt many people here would actually turn down the oppurtunity if they had the chance too to make the coin he did.

That's not exactly how these things work. When the feds come knocking on your door, they fine the shit out of you and take away ALL your profits for consumer redress. It's not tax deductible either.

If he's lucky and gets by with a couple of lawsuits, maybe he'll get to keep some of his money.

I bet all his money is in offshore bank accounts anyway...so why can't he just move out of canada/usa into some offshore safe haven, where feds/oprah/lawsuits can't do him a thing?

I don't think the FTC would take away all profits in this case. That is usually reserved for the likes of pyramid schemes, fradulent lotteries and other complete monetary scams.

In this case it is more of misleading advertising and bad business behavior. Besides I haven't heard the FTC announcing anything against Willms yet or any Attornery General for that matter. All the current suits look like private ones.

Even if they did, he probably move some cash to an offshore account, declare bankruptcy for his company, sit it out for a while and do the same thing again with a new company.

the place you speak of does not exist anymore

dudes prly going to prison and or losing all of his cash

remember the founder of enzyte?

Yeah you guys are nuts if you think he's getting off easy. They will most likely take every penny they can find. They are all ill gotten gains, and borderline theft. When you make your trial period end before most people even get the first shipment, don't let people cancel, don't issue refunds, etc. that is a lot more than just deceptive advertising.

W5 is the longest-running newsmagazine/documentary program in North America, and I knew my online career had peaked last year when one of my websites appeared on it for about a half second. lol

Thanks for the link. I knew it was on this weekend, and trying to remember when it was airing, but watching it online now is better...

Obviously this guy did dickish things, but the report also makes it obvious (at least to us) that tons of peeps on the net are idiots, and the media is either almost as dumb or just simply happy to sensationalize practically every angle of the stories. Probably both.

see, greed is the problem here and it's the inability to cancel the recurring charge without having to cancel the card that upsets people and gets Visa and Mastercard involved...

see how those sheeple wouldn't have been too upset about it if they had the chance to cancel it after the first rebill?...

JTM just went too far and fucked it up for everyone.

Hate Hate Hate

Yes it affected the industry but if him and the other personalities involved in the other big companies wouldn't have done it somebody else would.

I wonder if you would have done the same if you would have had all the favorable circumstances to do the same :D

^^ All depends on your nationality and country of residence, but you are right if you are referring specifically to citizens and residents of USA / CA and other cooperative jurisdictions.

guy has balls of steel - for that he deserves respect.

For the shitty practices and failure to manage the customer support side of things, the forced upsells etc and the heat he brought from Visa and MC (although not all on his part) it is a shame.

all of these people have 1 thing in common. they didnt read the TOS. i dont feel sorry for them.

The TOS that says :

"If you call us to get a refund, we won't pick up for hours so you don't have any chance at getting an actual refund."

and

"We say you get a free trial, but we'll actually bill you before you get the product to try."

and

"Our websites make these products look amazing, but in reality they're cheap shit and won't even work. Every claim made on this website is false."

and

"We'll make it almost impossible (or take hours in the least) for you to cancel our auto ship. You'll have to go to your bank/credit card company and fight it."

That TOS? It says that? Wow I guess everyone did deserve it.

Youz a hardass, boi.
