What are your true thoughts about adobe fireworks? I'm thinking about buying it. Thanks and happy holidays!

I used it back in the day when it was still owned by Macromedia. I'm sure the pros know, but I can't really see much of a difference between Fireworks, Photoshop and Imageready.

Fireworks is my design program of choice. I've used it exclusively since FW 3 and as the only graphics I do are for teh interwebz it's built for people like me. I don't edit photos and I've never actually used PS. If I do mess around with photos I use Pixelmator.

Fireworks is great - it's used for building and optimishing web graphics.

It's not a substitute for Photoshop, they work hand in hand although in many cases you could use one or the other.
