Would you ever promote an affiliate program that allows people to buy via telephone--in addition to buying online?

I would like to promote a certain affiliate program, but they allow the visitor to buy over the telephone, in addition to buying online. I'm concerned about not getting credit for phone sales that I generate.

As an affiliate, how would you handle this situation? Would the "phone buying option" cause you to avoid promoting the product/service?

I wouldn't promote that program. One of the affiliate programs I use (worldnicehe.com/moreniche.com) both take phone orders that the affiliate is credited for. 1-3% of my sales come from phone orders. Customers call the phone to order and they have to input the special discount #(your affiliate id) and you are credited

Thanks Wiy. Maybe I should email the aff. manager and ask how (if?) affiliates are credited with phone sales.

Why aren't more companies smart about how they handle online affiliates? They could easily create a duplicate sales letter that ONLY offers online ordering--and give this URL to affiliates--but they don't.

I emailed the aff. manager, asking if phone orders were tracked (and if so, how). It's been over a week, and so far, I haven't received a response back.

I don't think I'll be getting involved with this company. Unresponsive aff. manager, plus phone ordering == not good.

With moreniche (my sig :P), you get paid for orders by phone. Buyers are required to mention the aff id number, which is written out with big text on the orders page.

NEVER touch a program with a Phone number, Period. You lose control of the lead. I've promoted a few and the orders went up 30-50% when the phone number was removed. With these programs I even had my own phone number so there'd be no mix up in leads or affiliate ID's. Just never know who is going to be or not going to be answering the phone on the other end, I used to call it to see and 99% of the time they were totally retarded or it was some horrible shotty sounding msg. Just my 2 cents!
