Please can anyone let me know a list of all the things you can say to readers to buy the physical book that they already downloaded and viewed online for free or read via PDF. I want to know because, it is highly likely that if you convince them to also purchase the physical copy of your free book, they might just bye it!

So anyone has any ideas for doing it (without selling anything with it like bonuses, etc.), don't hesitate to post!

Check out Baen books sometime.

They publish a LOT of sci-fi stuff that is very good (David Weber, etc). They also from time to time include a CD in hardcover books that has all of their books in there in PDF format.

Why? Because they know it won't hurt sales.

Never stopped me...now, just reverse that and figure out the "Why"? :)

Your book? If so, post half of it online and make them buy the hard copy to read the rest. This way, they can get their on-demand fix and start reading right away and by the time they've read halfway through, the hard copy arrives in the mail.

To personalize, highlight, markup, dog ear a page, read on the toilet. Get back to basics.

I prefer Print to PDF simply for the eyestrain factor and I like to read at work.

I don't think people need to be convinced of the benefits of a hardcopy book..people have been buying them for centuries. If you give away the electronic version for free, it will spread and get into the hands of more potential customers. Some of them will decide to buy the hard copy.

Sounds like you want us to write your copy for you. There's people that make a living doing that, strangely enough!

Well, what if you book was read by at least a million people? Do you think, their is a need to offer them any free stuff (stickers, bookmarks) that is not so valuable at all?

I always print long PDF's I want to read. Never really got into reading books online. I prefer the old fashioned way. Why? Not really sure, just do. Maybe because it's a chance to break away from the computer for a bit, sit in a comfy chair and chill.

Well, what if your book has already read by millions of people within a month, then will their be a higher chances of people also want to buy the physical copy of it? For example, lets suppose, The Da Vince code was FIRST given freely as a download copy or view online for free, and then it was also available for purchase as a paperback copy at a later time (without no bonues). Will that make peole still want to buy it because of its being a popularity that was read by millions of people within a month, for discussion, buy it as a gift, etc.? What will be the estimate likelihood of people also buying it as a physical copy just because of its being popular?
