Is there a good alternative to Ebay? I started dropshipping items on Ebay, then found out they charge a 10% Final value fee!!! It's insane, any meager margin I had was destroyed!

So what are some good alternatives that have decent traffic and customers? Amazon? What marketplaces do you guys recommend?

They are greedy as fuck. Yeah you've got the final value fee PLUS the listing fee plus the Paypal fee.

It's fucking bullshit because eBay China doesn't charge final value fees, so you've got all these Chinese sellers selling shit way cheaper than you ever can.

As for alternatives, you've got Etsy but that's only for handmade stuff. I don't think any major competitors exist.

if 10% is destroying your margin, you have a horrible product/price setup to begin with.

In order of volume for our dropshipping, its:

1. Amazon
2. ebay
3. sears
4. google shopping/bing shopping
5. other cse's like shopzilla and thefind, etc

However if 10% eats you alive, you aint gonna survive anywhere then maybe TheFind which is free but has shitty traffic.

This was on about $300 worth of goods. I'm trying to sell small-ticket items initially in order to build feedback and a reputation on Ebay.

However, I'm hoping to sell items in the $1,500 - $8,000 range after a reputation has been built up and buyers feel they can trust me.

In that range, I can handle the exorbitant 14% Ebay/Paypal is taking. It doesn't make me happy, however, which is why I asked the question. I think I'll check out Amazon, it seems like the only other site with decent traffic/buyers.

You can find dropshippers with products that have minimum allowed prices (map) on fairly expensive items. That means you do not have to compete on price.

Step 1. Buy hand made crap on etsy

Step 2. Take pics of items

Step 3. Photoshop cool orbs of light around items

Step 4. Sell as enchanted and magical/haunted items on ebay

Step 5. Profit

I have to say I almost died laughing when I saw all the enchanted items / spells / magical runes being sold on eBay for the first time.

Not sure what your volume is like, but if you've sold 100 items and have over $1,000 in sales during a 12 month span your final value fee's will be discounted 20% if you meet their "Top Seller Requirements", offer a return policy and you upload your tracking within 24 hours of when the buyer made payment.
