Sure, the drone does ok in a wide open area (the desert?) but what about neighborhoods with trees, light posts, power lines etc.? It would be difficult to map out all of the obstacles that a drone might face, especially if these obstacles could change in real time (vehicles being parked in different spots, trees/shrubs growing, winds blowing, birds etc.). So you'd need some sort of capability to intelligently navigate the situation......
