Any of ya'll make your own beef jerky?

Lamb jerky is where it's at. Never tried it, or made it but would love to give it a go sometime.

Beef Jerkey is one of those things that if you buy it from the store in a retail shop you aren't really getting much. It seems that major brands, even ones I like and eat often like Pemmican and Oberto, aren't really very good.

I've made jerkey with beef from the local market and from venison and it was always less tough, most times by a huge margin, and far more flavorful than prepack retail.

It's pretty easy and cost effective like others have said to buy your own equipment and make it if you are going to eat any substantial amount. When I am dieting I eat a ton of jerkey, and the stuff I have made even on a cookie sheet in the oven with mediocre cuts of meat was far better than jerkey I buy at the store.

Give it a shot with a london broil and recipie and your oven. Giant here where I live every few weeks has london broil on by one get one free and thats the cut I have always used for beef recipies.

Yes, we make jerkey, Any beef jerky eaters here?

Do ya'll use liquid smoke when marinating your jerk before putting it the dehydrator? I notice a few recipes call for it, apparently it is just captured smoke in a liquid form, curious whether it gives the meat that smokey taste you would get if you used a smoker.

Sure, and you can always put a little in your friends car to make it smell like smoke.

OMFG so I went and made some beef jerky cuz of this thread. Jesus christ it is sooo good. Like, I can't stop eating it it is so good.

I got a dehydrator, making some this weekend with this sauce as the main flavor:

There are so many sulphite free hot sauces that are better than Spiracha and Lee Kum Kee sauces are way too salty. Their black bean sauce is gross.

Make your marinade from scratch man, it's not hard. Use fresh and basic ingredients without the chemicals and preservatives of jarred shit. If you want it spicy, just put some fresh chilies in it!

Yah I'll eventually get there but I wanna see if it's any good first :)

I'm shocked so many of you are "kitchen smart", boys.

Perhaps it is you who make sandwiches after all?
