Any way to prevent reverse IP domain check?

An ip domain check would be getting the ip from a domain. So a reverse one is taking an ip and getting the domain. Correct?

Since the DNS record is going to have both the domain name and the corresponding IP to talk to, I doubt it can be done.

My main concern is people discovering my other sites through this method, how do people on dedicated server that has 1-3 ip addresses deal with this issue? buy more ip, is that do-able

Use seperate IPs. There are already databases you can access that keep reverse ip logs of domains.. so not much you can do about it, except to use different ips.

now how can someone do this. I have been wanting to know this for a long time.

Assuming your domain isn't already in some list someplace on the internet you might be able to keep people from successfullly getting a reverse IP match on your domain by ensuring that your PTR record does NOT match your A record. If you have control of your DNS you should be able to change this on your own, otherwise it might be difficult.

I'm not 100% positive if this will prevent a reverse lookup, however I know that in order to send e-mail to certain hosts (AOL for instance) you need to have your PTR record match your A record so that AOL can do a reverse lookup before delivering your e-mail to one of it's subscribers.

Why dont you just have your RDNS point to just the IP. IP -> IP, Domain -> IP? I did this all of the time with web hosting, the only trade off is some MTA's won't see it as valid.

When all else is gone, I can show you how to make it completely anonymous for like 30/yr (domian + private whois). My competitors still want to know this one. :)
