As far as i'm aware, i think you might be getting ahead of yourself about whats currently available via the cloud.
Every smartphone game fully processed via the cloud?. Maybe in the future, but thats certainly not the case at the moment. The majority of current mobile phone games dont run entirely from the cloud, they still install on your phone and use your phones processor to run. I agree that most 'online' games like farmville etc will be available to play, but theres really nothing new with that - you can already play games in your browser.
Things like word processing, excel, data management tools etc etc will run fine on a cloud based system, but i can't foresee things like 3d rendering, After Effects, and sound processing like Reason or any other processing intensive apps being available in the near future. Can you imagine the sheer amount of processing power needed per user for apps like that, epecially when millions of people are all doing it at once.
Also, high end games like Shogun 2, Battlefield 3 etc. They won't be cloud based until server technology catches up, which certainly wont be happening for at least 10 years.
Which brings us back to square one really. The Chromebook will be fine for performing basic tasks, most of which are available online already. For the more intensive tasks, nothings going to beat a high end PC or a decent laptop.
