Having recently been diagnosed with RSI, i was wondering if anybody else suffers from RSI and how do they manage

Wrist braces. Take breaks.

Learn to use Windows Vista Voice Recognition. It's not great, but it's not too bad either.

I've had RSI for a long time, almost had to have surgery. I have both carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome. Now I'm much better - with all natural remedies.

Things that have helped me the most:

Vitamin B6 (Google Carpal tunnel B6)

If hand falls asleep a lot at night be sure to start wearing a brace to bed.

Evoluent vertical mouse. I have every one of the ergo mouses, because for me it's not typing that's the problem it's mouse clicking. This one helps my carpal the most. Evoluent VerticalMouse

For awhile when pain was really bad, I took the ball out of an old ball mouse and put it on the floor and would do all the mouse clicks with my foot. Anything to save the old hands, right?

Other things that can help:

MSM (great for back pain and arthritis too)

Plain Knox gelatin (Google it)

I just tried doing that, and more power to you. That must have been difficult getting used to.

ignore the guides about correct heigghts, adjust till you find a height that's right for you. Take frequent breaks, and work in odd positions (keyboard on lap etc) for short periods to relieve the pressure.

Whisky helps too.

If you're having wrist pain, there's a good chance that the pain is refered from a muscle "knot" on the inside of your forearm. If you feel the forearm, near the wrist in question, it'll be more tense than the other one, which is a good indicator that the forearm is causing it. If so I'd look into trigger point therapy (deep massage). See a professional or you could get a book called:

Soft Tissue Release: A Practical Handbook for Physical Therapists.

or

The Trigger Point Thereapy Workbook

The 1st book has exactly what to do to the forearm, but it's a bit technical. The 2nd book is for the entire body, is more extensive, and is written for self application. I use if i get any workout related injuries.

My wrist irritation disapeared when I started using the evoluent mouse (the wireless version). It's slightly less accurate to move then a normal mouse (you only notice this when you need pixel precision), but other then that you will be able to use it just as effectively as a normal mouse from day one. Great build quality too.

I got a chronic case of RSI (yay me), coming from a mixture of my work at that time and bad treatment from a variety of doctors.

Anyhow.. mine is the sort braces will not help with (the tendons affected can't be affected by braces), so I had to learn how to live with it.

Here are my tips:

- Cold bandages after work, whenever there is pain
- Flat, thin keyboard (as I do not type traditional 10 finger system, can't go with most ergonomical keyboards)
- Get this freeware program Workrave Adhere to the breaks RELIGIOUSLY!!
- Get this book: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Conquering-Carpal-Tunnel-Syndrome-Repetitive/dp/1572240393/ref=pd_sim_b_1]Amazon.com: Conquering Carpal Tunnel Syndrome : And Other Repetitive Strain Injuries: Sharon J. Butler: Books[/ame]

And good luck.
