Anyone else get this %$§& ?

OK, sometimes WP seems to simply lock up when I want to insert a link.
The ajaxy box for a link pops up, but it is empty and I can do shit but hit the back button.

Anyone else get this? Is there a solution?

I've had Firefox crash in the editor on other sites, like totally crashed and gone. Are you using Firefox 2.0.0.7?

My partner deals with this on all sorts of stuff. Wordpress, software, etc... none of it seems to work right on his machine.

He isn't real technical and he's 6 hours away so if you figure it out speak up -

He had some problems updating java and the net framework and I think it's related but no clue.

Most of the times I find these are problems with conflicting plug-ins your using. But really other then that re-installing wordpress might work, upgrading it to the newest version, or if it does it for all your sites then maybe look for a pattern in your plug-ins do you have the same ones accross all the sites causing the problem if so target and kill the plugin by deactivating each one by hand and then playing with it to see if the problem persists.

I've noticed my WP installs behave differently on different hosts. I haven't paid enough attention to it to know exactly what the problems are or if there's even any identifiable pattern. I just know that on some hosts I use, WP is gonna give me a case of the red ass.

Same WP install on the same server behaves differently.
Also behaves differently on the phases of the moon / tide / menstrual cycle of my neighbours cat.

All the rest of the editor works fine, just not the insert link one.

The code editor (not wysiwig) still works fine though.

Strange I've never seen nor heard of this problem before have you checked Codex maybe?.

Hmpfff...

It looks to me as if the HTML in the popup isn't loading, but no amount of reloading is bringing it up. One hour later it works fine.

We can close this thread now, nothing new to see.
