Anyone ever have surgery?

If any of guys need surgery, you should check out this place:

Surgery Center of Oklahoma

If they don't perform the surgery you need, they could probably refer you to a similar place with transparent pricing in the area. The prices are 1/20th to 1/10th the price of so-called not-for-profit hospitals. They also don't charge outrageous hospital fees. Prices are quoted upfront and there are no extras. If they need any extra items or find something they didn't catch before surgery, there's no extra fee.

If I ever need any surgery, I'm checking them out.

P.S. OP, this thread still needs a boob implant.

Nice! I'm to slowly replace my body parts with metal ones. I will live forever!

Good things come to those who wait...

lol I had an MRI a week ago and almost passed out from sitting there with an IV in my arm for the contrast. I had to lay down in the changing room with my feet up for a while before going in. I can't do stuff when conscious.

@Jman, that sucks having equipment inside you. And yeah, the bills, I don't even open them anymore. I pay my mortgage and important shit and have some payment plans for a few places. $80k bill, are they trying to give you a heart attack? hehe

I think they were trying to give me one, lol.

You know the first few years I had the implant, it was hard not to think about it. Especially since the implant is just under the skin, so it sticks out, you can physically see it. Laying a certain way, etc... can be uncomfortable at times. The good thing is that they make progress on these things fairly quickly. My current ICD/pacer, is about half as thick as my first one was. This makes a BIG difference in how it feels...most of the time I don't notice it, and just forget about it during normal daily activities.

This is what I have: http://www.bostonscientific.com/tem...loads/CRM1-1416-0809_TELIGEN-Full-Spec_SS.pdf
The leads are Medtronic, because my previous device was Medtronic.

If they ever start during heart surgery, and have well regarded cardiologists I'd check them out...otherwise when it's something so serious, if it cost $100,000 more, so be it...I'd rather be at the best hospital with the best doctors and paying for it forever than not.

But yea, for more "routine" surgery I can definitely see the benefit in checking them out.

I had an umbilical hernia operated on back in October here in Spain. It was done at this hospital Xanit International Hospital in Benalmádena which is quite nice, new and modern. Big private rooms, TV, leather couch and reclining chair, plus the cutest nurses I've ever seen in any hospital.

If it didn't hurt like hell I would recommend surgery to everyone!

They do have the best doctors in the area. CEOs from states like Texas go there. Their prices are lower because they have price transparency and own the surgery facility. Surgeons who work there usually make more money on surgeries than surgeons in other hospitals that charge 10x as much. Hospitals usually gouge the patient. Read the guy's blog before you count him out:

G. Keith Smith, M.D.

Oh, I'm sure they do. I don't doubt that.
It's just that under their list of services, nothing related to the heart is listed.
So perhaps they'll offer it in the future, but not as of yet.

I don't know, I'm just speculating, but it may be because for many types of heart surgeries,
it's recommended that they are done in a facility that has a Level I trauma center...which
I am betting the surgery center does not have.

You should still give the place call. Since opening they've convinced other facilities to have transparent pricing. There might be one that could perform that surgery in the area. They might also be able to connect you with a doctor in a regular hospital that will do the surgery for less. Dr Smith has talked with a lot of patients who went to other facilities first and many times they matched the prices of Smith's center down to the dollar.

I've had wisdom teeth out in a 2 night stay in hospital in the UK - Didn't pay a penny.

Appendix out via keyhole surgery in Melbourne, in and out in 24hrs - free
(OK, I think I paid $20 for parking since I drove myself there and drove home afterward)

So, you pay zero taxes?

I've had surgery a few times -and luckily has insurance every time.

1995 - Right inguinal hernia
1997 - Left inguinal hernia
2001 - Corrective eye surgery (LASIK - best damn money I ever spent ever ever ever)
2009 - UPPP (sleep apnea) surgery - most painful damn thing in my life. I didn't eat for about 10 days afterwards. They took out my tonsils, uvula, and a lot of my soft palatte. But I sleep like a baby now.
2012 - Cut the shit out of my leg and had a shitload (32) stitches. Not exactly surgery...but close enough

You gotta watch that sleep apnea, had a friend die at 30 years old in his sleep. Not 2 weeks after his wedding. It was fucked.

The closest thing to surgery I've had is digging a bullet out of myself. I'd hate to have a real one.

Just come down to Canada...its free healthcare.. I am sure the surgery would be free too! That seems like a lot of money..damn!

Wow, that is fucked. Mine is under control now.

I had it from at least the time I was 17 and weighed 170lb up to when I was 35 and weight about 220.

I never really knew what "well rested" was until after the surgery. Now I get tired as all hell if I don't get 6-7 hours of sleep.
