Anyone have a email list and make constant money off it?

I've tried to do the email list thing in the past, never took it serious enough. I would usually start a campaign to capture emails, but never got very far and would lose interest.

Now i started up a new offer and have the chance to capture emails and still hopefully profit from the campaign.

What im wondering is if any of you have email lists, do you still profit from them, how long you've had them and around what number of subscribers did you notice a good payoff which covered the cost of getting those subscribers.

I'm thinking about trying to collect emails for this offer which I am sure would kill my ROI quite a bit so I'm trying to gauge wither it would be good in the long term. I know it makes sense to build one, but would you do it at the cost of 50-100%+ ROI? It's kind of a shot in the dark and email lists never really made me any money in the past.

yes, I am sure you've heard that the money is in the list, what's important is the rapport you build with them, one good tactic is to send 2 emails without promotions and only good things that can help them, and the 1 promotion for an affiliate product or your own...build rapport, be honest and try to sincerely help them and they will respond..

what ebook is that out of?

on a more serious note however, weird how everybody thinks email when they think of a list, right? RSS feed readers, twitter follower, facebook fans all count as being part of your list (since you can get the word out to them and all that)

obviously people just about friend and add and follow anything these days so conversions will differ from your old-school email list but it's inherently the same thing -- with the added advantage that you can get all the eyeballs for free

How hard did you try? Give us some more details on your email sequence, squeeze page incentive, etc.

Also, check out user Dare_Devil I think it is. He dropped a ton of knowledge on list building in the "Most popular Click bank" thread. I'm too lazy to link to it just go dig a little.

E-mail lists can make you some money. The awesome thing about lists is that you can lose money campaign wise but still make up for it later. I would say around 5k double opt-ins is when i saw "consistent" money. You don't want to burn your list too fast. But it can be expensive because people are opting out, people never confirm there e-mail, etc etc. There are some niches where this works better than most. You just have to test....

There is a reason why email submits pay you $1-2 a pop.
Get a spam special email account, and sign up for everything in your niche. At least that's how I learned to monetize my email better. I think the biggest thing is having your emails stay out of the spam box. Aweber is good at that, but double opt in. I had email programs were I would average 75 cents in the first two days per subscriber. Despite the fact some say not to send offers right away, I still do; after that its all profit. I think the take it easy approach works better with personal blogs collecting emails, not paid traffic.

The way I work when running an offer and capturing emails is that as long as im breaking even running the offer while capturing the emails I keep the campaign going.

for example. I run a offer to an insurance company that pays me $4 a pop, if Im breaking even paying the traffic source using the money that insurance offer pays me and I still capture emails I keep the offer live and running.

that way I got the emails for free and can email them later as many times as I want and whatever I make of my list is pure profit/ROI...

make sense???

In my experience I've generally got 5% click throughs for each email I send out. And if you have a half decent relationship with your list conversions should be okay, so just figure it out that way.

If let's assume you make $1 per click on average, a list of 1,000 people will make you $50 per mailing on average. Of course it won't work out quite that neatly.

And some people say expect $1 a month per subscriber. I've found that to be completely inaccurate. $1 per subscriber per year perhaps, unless they're a customer of yours. A customer list is going to be way more responsive than just a free subscribers list.

I've always used double opt in and try to set up autoresponders ahead of time so I don't have to keep sending out broadcasts to keep the list fresh.

Good idea to offer good content not just offers, and linking to in depth how to guides on your blog can work well, since how to guides usually have a bunch of affiliate links in them. Income diary does this well.

Im curious, how much did you test (subject headlines, body text/letter, etc.) before you could hit that 5% ctr?

Or do you just slap stuff together real quick and you're able to hit that 5% pretty easily?

I'm starting a list building campaign soon and I'm curious as to what I might be able to expect with some quality articles, ebooks + videos, and some good copy.

5% CTR for free list ? Hmm..... that's really wierd no matter how you put it....Not 50% maybe but like 25% is real

It's all about the relationship you have with your list. A tiny list of loyal subscribers can make you a lot of money. Don't give up on list-building. Get to know what problems your list are desperate to solve and then provide them some free solutions.

What's up guys... a very large part of my business is email marketing. I've used it to help build one of the most popular products in clickbank. In short, yes there is a lot of money to be made on email marketing. Not only with the broadcasts, but the auto-responder series for your products are where the real money is. Also, keep in mind the leverage you have once you build a list of say, 400,000 people interested in making money from home ;)

From my experience, after mailing all of the best biz opp / work at home offers in clickbank.. here are some things you should note.

Good open rates: 10% for a large list (list contains names as old as 1 year)
Good click through rates: 45% with the aforementioned still being the same, and also with a good email ad copy
Good epcs: $0.30 for a good offer (our list is 75% international keep in mind).

Some people claim you can make $1/epc with offers etc... but when you have a very large list, it generally isn't a very narrow list (i.e. ONLY people from the U.S.) and may be a bit broader. If you have a very targeted list, it is possible.

Anyways, having a large list gives you power.. you can get favors from people.. to mail your offer, gain noteriety on the leaderboards and get noticed by big marketers.. make connections.. etc.

That's the number I saw on average over the last two/three years. And not from just me - a partner with a 200k list promoted for us and sent us just over 10k visitors so it works out.

That said, people who treat their lists badly (daily offers and no good content) seem to have lower click throughs.

These numbers were from lists managed by Aweber and iContact.
