Some people I know still get their shots every year but I don't trust them since it is only partially effective plus they are known to produce bad side effects for a few.

I've been meaning to look into vitamin D as a way to boost my immune system. Anyone here on those supps and what has it done for you?

Look up piers Morgan gets flu, only days after arguing for it on tv. It drastically increases the likely hood of getting the flu. The other problem is how it increases the Chances of getting the flu the rest of your life. Oh that and the fact the shot is never the same strain as what is actually in the wild. Fuck that flu shot.

I thought only old people got flu shots?

I think that's the case in the UK, but i think in murica they get everything insurance companies can give em, just in case

Nope.

I'm a firm believer in vaccines against persistent and static threats, but I can't help but think of the flu vaccine as a false sense of security.

Are you a secret agent?

Nope, just a Canadian who like to travel lots in the winter months and don't like to get sick from recycled air in airplanes and being around crowds on cruise ships and such.

I thought only old people got flu shots?

I thought only old people were wise people.

You must not be around people then, stay inside all winter and you will be fine.

but I can't help but think of the flu vaccine as a false sense of security.
It stops you from getting this years version (strain) of the flu, nothing more, nothing less. Next year you need to get it again to protect against the latest bug.

Or perhaps I'm fit, healthy, don't let people cough on me and wash my hands?

I have never gotten flu shot in my life, I just drink shit loads of juice I buy from Trader Joes, and take them pills.

I just follow the Dwight Schrute protocol for strengthening your immune system:

But in all seriousness, I have a bit of a cold right now and it's already cost me 2 full days of work and it's pissing me off.

I hate losing money due to illness.

I'm sure a full blown flu would set me back 5 to 7 work days. I might considering getting it this year...

EDIT: How the fuck do I embed youtube?

Well, it's a little more complicated than that.

"in most years (16 of the 19 years before 2007), the flu vaccine strains have been a good match for the circulating strains, and even a mis-matched vaccine can often provide cross-protection."

"According to the CDC, the flu vaccine reduces the odds of getting the flu by 70% to 90%."
