Anyone Here Getting A Flu Shot?

Propoganda and agenda...

No flu shots or vaccines.

I like that all of Wickedfire seems immune to the Democrats' bullshit, but I don't like that they aren't immune to Republican bullshit

you guys also have to notice how clever I was being by using the word "immune" in a flu shot/vaccination thread. God, yesh.

Some people I know still get their shots every year but I don't trust them since it is only partially effective plus they are known to produce bad side effects for a few.

I've been meaning to look into vitamin D as a way to boost my immune system. Anyone here on those supps and what has it done for you?

PHP:

Getting a flu shot is probably one of the worst medicine for your body. Spiritually it robs you of your in-born powers which can be developed. Read this article for some insights:

10 Reasons Why Flu Shots Are More Dangerous Than The Flu! - Underground Health

The ones given to new born's creates more damage than were told about.

Well, it's still a free country, so you're free to inject whatever you want into your system. I mean, how bad can it get? Most people consume poisons everyday, and we call it food and dieting.

But in all seriousness, I have a bit of a cold right now and it's already cost me 2 full days of work and it's pissing me off.

I hate losing money due to illness.

I'm sure a full blown flu would set me back 5 to 7 work days. I might considering getting it this year...

You need to build a support team around you that can handle the workload while you have down time.

I never get the flu vax. I rarely get sick as it is. I eat 80/20. 80% healthy and 20% whatever. If I feel like I am about to get sick I take zicam (dont get the generic, it tastes like crap)

inb4 vaccines cause autism

Well seeing as how I'm already autistic..I guess I'll be getting my shot this year.

I've had a sinus infection for like 15 months now and haven't had the flu once during that time. Still healthier than a flu shot, I bet.

Look up piers Morgan gets flu, only days after arguing for it on tv. It drastically increases the likely hood of getting the flu. The other problem is how it increases the Chances of getting the flu the rest of your life. Oh that and the fact the shot is never the same strain as what is actually in the wild. Fuck that flu shot.

I bet you 57 cents that none of this can be scientifically backed up, ignoring Piers Morgan stuff, that's an anecdote, not science.

no shots for me - there are some side effects. I eat anything I want to but I am regulary on Chlorella , Spirulina and Acai through whole year - haven't been down with flu for like 8-10 years maybe?
Forget about the shots and support your immunity system instead:pimp:

"According to the CDC, the flu vaccine reduces the odds of getting the flu by 70% to 90%."

Flu Vaccine Effectiveness: How Well Does It Work?

CDC is not an objective source of information. These kind of figures are more likely to be out of context. It does not state relative risk, relative risk reduction or absolute risk. When it comes to vaccines and drugs, relative risk reduction are always used to give people the exaggerated effectiveness. If one wants to have a better understanding of how the flu shot reduces the odds or increases the odds, its better to look at control vs treatment studies.

Here are a few studies of such:

Influenza Vaccine Effectiveness in the Community and the Household

We recruited 328 households with 1441 members, including 839 children, and followed them during the 2010–2011 influenza season....

Influenza was identified in 78 (24%) households and 125 (9%) individuals; the infection risk was 8.5% in the vaccinated and 8.9% in the unvaccinated (P = .83)....

There was no evidence that vaccination prevented household transmission once influenza was introduced; adults were at particular risk despite vaccination.

Association between the 2008–09 Seasonal Influenza Vaccine and Pandemic H1N1 Illness during Spring–Summer 2009: Four Observational Studies from Canada

Based on the sentinel study of 672 cases and 857 controls, 2008–09 TIV was associated with statistically significant protection against seasonal influenza (odds ratio 0.44, 95% CI 0.33–0.59). In contrast, estimates from the sentinel and three other observational studies, involving a total of 1,226 laboratory-confirmed pH1N1 cases and 1,505 controls, indicated that prior receipt of 2008–09 TIV was associated with increased risk of medically attended pH1N1 illness during the spring–summer 2009, with estimated risk or odds ratios ranging from 1.4 to 2.5.

Clinical and Epidemiologic Characteristics of an Outbreak of Novel H1N1 (Swine Origin) Influenza A Virus among United States Military Beneficiaries

Between April 21 and May 8, a total of 97 patients developed the H1N1 virus. Of these, 63 people, or 66 percent, received the influenza vaccination in the previous 12 months. In comparison, only 40 percent of patients without H1N1 virus had no history of vaccination.

Effectiveness of 2008--09 Trivalent Influenza Vaccine Against 2009 Pandemic Influenza A (H1N1)

Study direct from CDC themselves

In Nov. 13, 2009, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention published a case-cohort study on the effectiveness of 2008-09 trivalent influenza vaccine against 2009 pandemic H1N1. The CDC concluded that there was no decreased or increased risk of pandemic H1N1 following seasonal flu vaccine.

Those are just a few, I am sure there are more studies out there.

Why would they? Mercury is good for you.

Of course mercury is good for you, especially when it is injected directly into the blood stream via vaccines. I get my reliable information from TV

You conspiracy theorists kill me. You're the same ones that would be fighting the Polio vaccine in it's day. Quit thinking everything is the bad Govt. out to get you. It's a damn flu shot! It may or may not help you with the strain you catch. If it helps fight 1 cold flu, it's worth the $8 to me.

Don't worry, they are retarded.

Influenza Vaccine Effectiveness in the Community and the Household

"Vaccine effectiveness estimates were lower than those demonstrated in other observational studies carried out during the same season."

So you cherry picked the study with the worst results from the season?

increased risk of medically attended pH1N1

"studies conducted in other countries have reported that seasonal vaccination had no influence or may have been associated with reduced chances of pH1N1 illness"

For anyone not aware, H1N1 is swine flu, which the regular flu shot does not target.

Between April 21 and May 8, a total of 97 patients developed the H1N1 virus. Of these, 63 people, or 66 percent, received the influenza vaccination in the previous 12 months. In comparison, only 40 percent of patients without H1N1 virus had no history of vaccination.

This is research into a specific outbreak community, in which males also were much more likely than females to get H1N1. That's because the source of this particular outbreak was apparently from when a Navy ship had been docked. People on Navy ships are more likely to be male and more likely to have had flu shots in comparison to their other household members.

"Active duty members of the military with H1N1 virus infection (but no other group) were more likely to have received influenza vaccination (particularly LAIV) than were those without H1N1 virus infection. This finding is likely explained by vaccination of nearly all military members, and it is likely not a true association...

our investigation demonstrates the rapid spread of this novel H1N1 strain in a well-defined population, including an outbreak on a military vessel"

The CDC concluded that there was no decreased or increased risk of pandemic H1N1 following seasonal flu vaccine.

I don't think they ever claimed it would stop H1N1. Again, the swine flu vaccine is separate.

So you cherry picked the study with the worst results from the season?

So its bad season, then what? That is the possible results of the vaccine, and who knows if those kind of results will happen again. Have we the foresight to see if this year or next year will be a good or bad season? Being that it has happened implies that it can again. Same appies to if it is a good season. If a person want to get a sense of how well the flu jab can reduce or increase their odds, they should look at the bad and the good.

Have you found control vs treatment studies that have verified the 70% to 90% odds reduction? Feel free to cherry pick ones that are the best seasons. I did say in the end of my post that there could be more studies.

Really I don't know if its better to get them or not. I have never gotten a flu shot and not gotten sick, but there are plenty of times I have not gotten one and did not get sick. It depresses your immune system after getting it which can lead to getting sick.

^^ this. Never had flu, don't tend to avoid people or anything.

FWIW, I only know 1 person who has had influenza. Many people think that a bad cold is flu.
