I know a lot of the big dogs (and wannabe big dogs) around here probably laugh at those who try to earn with Adsense, but I'm just curious if anyone still uses it as a supplement to other earnings, or have you abandoned it entirely for bigger and earning earning projects?

I cut my teeth using Adsense, like almost everyone else in the AM game, but I still swear by it as being a kick ass passive income generator.

Until recently I focused solely on SEO (just started the PPC game not long ago), so I managed to get some niche game/arcade sites to number 1 for a lot of good keywords, and the earnings continue to be good. I'm still making $200 a day from 3-4 sites that I hardly even touch anymore.

I'm curious what others who are mainly in the PPC game think of Adsense and do you use it?

Damn $200/day is a lot from adsense in my opinion. What kind of ctr you get? what is your avg $ per click?

I'm at around 5% CTR, $6 ecpm on 28k page impressions

hmm i just looked and I am 2.5ctr, $3 ctr :<

What kind of keywords are these for? What kind of sites do you have - blogs? or just reg sites?

thx

edit: I see you wrote: niche game/arcade and #1 lol nice... so these are for specific games I assume?

Yeah man arcade sites kill it on adsense. Picture blogs are also a quick money maker that you can flip after a month or two.

I average about $1.50 per month. kthxbye

These sites I have are legit websites were I've scraped up free games and compiled them on my own niche game sites. They do well, like I said, and I do so little to maintain. Maybe throw up a new game now and then or build a few directory links. I'm beating the competition on a TON of good keywords. General arcade sites don't do that well really, but I've found some niches that I could compete and have a decent per click return.

Did you even do any hardcore SEO or just standard directory subs?

I optimized the hell out of every page on those sites plus all the normal off page stuff. Social bookmarking, forum/blog posts, sigs, directories, article submissions etc.. Everywhere you could think. I've built up about 50K backlinks for each of the sites.

Looks like you've put a lot of effort into SEO. I do not have as much success as you but make a reasonable amount with adsense

Enough to make me wonder why the 'gurus' try to discourage people from adsense

Probably depends on which gurus you talk to but if the guru is a "PPC + affiliate products" guru then they will tell you you can do $6K a day as opposed to $6K a month ($200/day x 30 days). I'm not knockin efeezy, $200 a day is fuckin awesome from adsense with the sites on autopilot, I'm envious. And if the "guru" is trying to sell you something AdSense isn't isnt a very sex sell.

It's not impossible to make decent money from Adsense... it's just a long, tiring journey, and there are faster ways to turn a buck, and a lot more of them, if you know what you're doing.
Generally, when "gurus" are knocking Adsense, it's because they're the kind of people that have made them selves some custom solutions to their PPC and affiliate campaigns that automate a shitload of their work, so yeah, they are able to pull $6k a day, and they can do it with minimal work... but they're bullshitting you and themselves if they say that it was easy or quick to get where they are.

Rule #1: No silver bullets.

hell yeah I'm practically living from adsense income atm. Ever since I started concentrating on content based sites in my own language (Dutch) and higher paying keywords, my earnings have multiplied by 15 in a few months time. Recently all earnings are now reported in Euro's I think I also benefit from this atm. probably useless information if you dont know other languages fluently but at least I answered your question.

Last month was just over 2200 Euro's. Now that I know what works I hope to double this up in the winter season.

Fuckin Awesome Feezy & Extremist!

you guys using Wordpress or custom building your sites? Or some other CMS?

I use: wordpress with some important plugins. xmlsitemap generator, related posts, popularity contest wp-post-ratings. I choose a design that is rather plain, SE Optimeze it, and integrate the ads around my content.

I use google webmastertools and have my analytics account linked to my adsense account. I use google trends and insights for search.

Before I launch a blog, I make sure that I have at least 20 unique qualty posts. I get a large list of update services to ping. Then I build my site map, ping google yahoo, bing and others, then I write another article. After that I go to 3 major dutch social news bookmarking sites and bookmark the best articles. I also look for other places to get good links.

I target for high paying keywords, mainly finance. This has worked well for me.
