Anyone Try to Adapt Polyphasic Sleep?

Yeah. Here in the south we just call those naps.
Further south they call them a Siestas.

Hahahaha, that is what I wanted to say.
Anytime I am on vacation, I adapt to the "biphasic sleep schedule". :D

Caught ya!!

When I'm not in school I try to live on a 26 hour clock. Where I wake up I stay awake for 17 hours and then go to sleep for 9 hours. 24 hours just isn't enough time in a day.

Given various methods a try, but in all cases I use binaurals/BWE to trigger the REM phaze (theta). Typically, I'm biphasic.

:R:

yeah "biphasic" is just some bullshit new-age way of saying you're taking a siesta
tried the every man polyphasic thing but I can't even fall asleep in a half hour so I always overslept on the core portion making it about a normal night's sleep

I drink 8-12 redbulls a day. Sleep happens very little.

You could save a couple hundred $ a month by switching to Folger's

I drink a cup or two in the morning

i feel like your heart doesn't heart you.

Speaking of heart, back when I was in my early 30's I was running two businesses and sleeping only about 4 hours every two days.

I didn't want to use any illegal drugs so I would go through at least 2 two liter bottles of Mt. Dew and I was eating about 6 to 8 200mg Caffeine tablets a day to keep going.

Well after about two months of this something strange happened one afternoon. (Keep in mind that I was a Runner and Swimmer back then.) While at a client's place I suddenly felt Ice Cold in the middle of the summer in Florida. I felt real weak and decided to take my pulse. It was only 20 to 25 beats a minute over a course of three readings.

I called my wife because I was in no condition to drive. (My client wanted to call 911 and I refused that.) She took me to my doctor to get checked out. I told him what I had been doing with the caffeine and he said that my heart had just become too fatigued from being over stimulated. He was actually VERY surprised that it continued to beat. He said that once your heart becomes too fatigued that it loses it's sinus rhythm an begins to B Fibrillate. (In other words Heart Attack.)

Needless to say, I quit the caffiene pills and cut back on the Mt. Dew.

I'm relating this so that you might be a little more careful with the amounts of stimulants you ingest.

I'm one of those schmucks that gets by on 6 hours of sleep anyway.
I tried this a while back actually, and also found that it massively disrupted my social and work life at the time. Work life I didn't care about, but being too tired to go out with friends for dinner because I hadn't had a nap yet was not cool.

Yeah, but if you work in an office, it sounds like a medical condition, thus getting you sympathy and the right to nap at your desk.

Kind of like years ago when I used to tell my boss I couldn't come in because I was suffering from alco-glycemic dehydration... One day he asked his doctor what it was. The next time I tried to use that excuse, he just yelled louder.

I'm doing Polyphasic. I sleep about 4 hours a day right now. Still in the adaption phase though. Pretty big pain in the ass.

Did Polyphasic/uberman for 3 months in college. Took ~7 days of hell to adjust, then I slept 2 hrs a day for 12 weeks, until I got so damn bored of being up at 4am with nothing to do that I voluntarily overslept.
(protip: make a list of >300 random, specific tasks you could spend 1hr or more doing, before you even get started. do them in any order. you'll cross half of them off once you realize you're too zombied out to read a book or call an old friend, but "finger paint" and "explore the sewer system" will keep you engaged during the late nightshift. you won't make it 10 days without this list.)

lol I'm on day 14 and I'm still in hell. The nighttime hours are almost impossible to stay awake. I'm bored only because i cant do AM because id fall asleep looking at the screen.

True dis. It's all fun when you're young single and fancy free but once you've got a family and/or a significant social life, it's pretty much going to be the 10-6 route.
