"It's all automatically organized for you, so you don't even have to think about it"

Because that's what I'd want to tell a kid that supposed to be learning. You don't even have to think about it.

Get the fuck outta here Apple. And if you think text book makers are going to be continually updating eTextbooks you're out of your fucking mind. They make money by selling new editions at ridiculous prices. If this becomes the norm they'll still make money by selling new editions at ridiculous prices.

And then the schools have to pay for the ipad that some poor dumbfuck throws against the wall and can't afford to pay the school to replace it when it breaks because a fucking temper tantrum throwing 8-year couldn't hold his shit together.

That sounds like a great fucking idea, because you know, the American education system has so much extra money to be spending on this shit.

Ive been saying this shit needed to happen a long time ago. I knew that having text books on some kind of hand held device would be the next best thing. Every parent will buy this for their kids because they don't want them lugging around 50lbs of books. I just thought the kindle would get to it first.

its actually much easier to read a book on iPad, and the highlight/notes options is something that I could have only wished for when I was a student...
took me a while to start reading books from my iPad, but once I started its just better, no question about it.

Pretty much this. And they'll require an access code to read, so you'll have to use the latest edition. Colleges are already doing this shit for required online access. Codes I've seen range anywhere form $20-200

Best thing is this will probably save a lot of much-needed trees. Or else your grand kids are gonna miss them so much.

also inb4 eye care market grows exponentially

You realize the trees they cut down to make books are grown, specifically to be cut down. "Tree farms" as they are called. Kinda like how we grow food to eat.
