Looking like a twat answering myself, but maybe saving anyone else fucking about. Re: Firefox 3 beta..

Are 2.0 plugins generally compatible?

Seems some are, a lot aren't.

Also, it looks like it's a separate install - didn't bother looking into it - separate directory, but seems to share addons and cookies (prob other stuff too) with ff 2.0 and won't run both together. I bet it's easy-ish to separate them, but I should do some fuckin work...

Yes some plugins are compatible, or if you search you may find someone ported the plugin for the current beta. However this is the last beta before FF3 goes live.

Hopefully Apple can get off there ass and open up some plugin api for coders to munch on.

However besides web development plugins I could give two shits about plugins for FF. Way to slow down your browser IMHO.

As I design, I have to use all of them. My ranking would be as follows:

Opera > Safari > Flock > Firefox 2 > IE 7 > Konqueror > IE 6

Is it just me or the memory leak problem isn't there in Safari. I have been using it for last few hours and no slowing down like FireFox?

I think your right Lord Brar, I haven't noticed any kinda cooky slow down either.

However that issues as I have said will be fixed in FF3 - check out FF3 Beta 5 to see how much more stable FF will be in the new release.

However I'm loving the shit out of Safari, so FF may fall on my back burner.
