First off, you're getting a good sense of the kind of employer this guy might be. Obviously, your convenience is not the issue to them. These are already warning signs, and you haven't even met the guy in person.

This whole starbucks thing is a trip. I can't believe this guy doesn't understand why you might want to meet on neutral ground.

At this point, I'd just send him an email and say "I'd be much more comfortable meeting you at your office during a lunch break next week." or "I'm sorry, a family function has come up for Saturday and I can't make that meeting. I'd like to meet you at your office on Tuesday @ 1pm. Please let me know if that's convenient for you."

do you remember the movie 'Pulp Fiction' and the character "Zed" - that's what comes to mind when he didnt want to meet you at starbucks.

hey for all we know, this dood might have a coffee phobia?

I recommend going this route. It would seem that they might want to test you and have a project or two setup, and they don't have a way to make it mobile. Just an idea.

If any thing pay a buddy 20 bucks to wait out side with a cell phone. If they ask why you have some one with you, you can always tell them that they are waiting for you to bring them into work or some shit.

Jesus frigging christ, what is it with you people?

Have all of you turned into a bunch of whimps?

There might be dozens of reasons he wants to meet you at home.

a) He likes his home and does not want to be away from home/wife/kids for an extended period only to interview you for half an hour.

b) He makes better coffee than starbucks

c) He's got other appointments to keep.

d) He's got someone working in the house.

..
..
..

zz) He is going to turn you into his sex slave in the basement.

Just grow some balls and go for the interview, will ya?

I never said don't go to the interview but LazyD seemed to have reservations about going to a home.

The choice isn't ours it's LazyD's fuck off.

haha. Sicko. My lawyer works out of his house. if your going to go to someones house for an interview just use your common sense, if you get a bad vibe, dont go

Hm...

An interview at his house on his insistence...

If one of the interview questions is something like this:

Interviewer: "If we were to go camping sometime and you woke up with a condom hanging out of your ass would you tell anyone?"

LaxyD: "No."

Interviewer: "Wanna go camping?"

...you may want to politely excuse yourself and hand the job over to LemonAden. That is, if Lemon isnt busy balling Fall Out Boy band members that day.

So at this point, im gonna pass on this start up company...

I would really like to get out of working full time and work part time and do my own shit 2-3 days a week. As it is, I have 4 large web design clients waiting and I can barely get shit done after work, exercise, cooking dinner, etc.

Do you guys think its possible to average $100/day as a PHP/MySQL developer doing freelance jobs. I think to start out alot of the freelance work will be small things off of DigitalPoint, I will still be taking full on web design clients which are worth way more, but in down time.

In addition, im gonna push my internet marketing alot more seriously...Again, I barely update any of my sites becuase I simply dont have the time...

IMHO, this may be the most rewarding decision you ever made IF you stick to your guns and work your ass off. If you market your services, I don't see why you couldn't make $100 or so a day doing development work, most of which could possibly come from WF.

It may take some small lifestyle changes for a bit (less eating out, etc) but in the end, it could definitely be worth it. Gotta take the leap sometime, man.

Ive been wanting to work for myself for a while now, just never had the balls or even prospective resources to do so...

From what ive been told I seriously underbid myself on the projects I do... For instance, I am almost done with a site that has multiple systems running on there site that will pretty much eliminiate any need for paper schedules, or setting calendar dates for tracking credentials, etc.

The site has a complete calendar scheduling system that can be filtered by employee or type of employee (Position) as well as printing the schedule out for the current month or specified months...

Credential tracking that sends out emails to credential holder and business owners at 6 month, 3 month, 1 month and 1 day intervals of when there certification is going to expire.

A complete employee roster system that allows admins to add/edit/delete employees and lets each employee update their own contact info and password.

And tons of other shit including the public part of their site, all in PHP/MySQL... All for $750 - Ive been told I could have easily charged $1500+ for the work im doing...

/vent

Anyway, yea, I believe with a nice website for examples/portfolio and some marketing I believe that I could do it as well. My family and girlfriend think im a fuckin retard and that I will end up having to get a full time job again...

I have about $1000/month in monetary obligations...

"Your parents will bitch about the long hours you're putting in. Well, FUCK YOU mom and dad! See how much they bitch when you're making their Lexus payments"

- Affleck from Boiler Room

(not an exact quote, but pretty close)

Good luck, bro.
