Losing your job and immediately taking a job flipping burgers cause you're too proud to accept unemployment = commendable (if somewhat misguided)

Losing your job and not working for two years and still not taking unemployment = uber retard


These two proud, (ostensibly) hard workers probably used to bitch all the time about taxes and how their money was going to people who didn't have their work ethic right? Do they not realize if they accept unemployment benefits they are just getting their tax money back? If somebody puts in, I don't see why they should be ashamed to derive the benefits of their contribution if it's needed. Honestly your friends are making choices detrimental to the immediate needs of their children, and that right there should be enough to put their pride in check. Your friends actually sound like morons with the complete inability to understand context, the winners at the special olympics are proud too, IJS.
 


Don't want to steal your thread but I have a few friends at the university who apply for food stamps so they wouldn't have to get a meal plan...I feel have too much pride for that especially when i'm not looking between couches for change..

A government subsidized meal plan vs. food stamps, is 6 of one or half a dozen of another. What do they think they are accomplishing.
 
If I didn't make too much money to get my own money back I would believe me.

Only the male had a boat to sell. I guess he had to sell it to his dad to get a cash advance to fix his truck, and pay his back child support.

The female did not have a boat.
