dude - you're broke, live in a trailerpark, you're eating tv dinners, and you're fat. FUCK. step it up. why aren't your skillz paying the billz?! what is the character flaw that is holding you back? i'm not trying to be harsh, but something is not adding up - i don't need an answer, because i really don't care (i've got my own character flaws that i need to focus on so i can reach my potential)... just something to think about. wishin' you the best.

Two kids, and a wife with a back pack takes away from the time I could be spending on coding is a small factor in it. That and stress messes with the brain at times. My biggest flaw is marketing myself.

Also the rant above... is nothing more than a rant, I don't expect it to be a pity fest, but sometimes just ranting lets my brain move onto more important things.

That's why I've been in Springfield, MO. on and off since 1998... I just can't leave the cheap rent. I've tried San Francisco, Colorado, Austin, Pensacola, and Yellowstone (contact work) and always come back to Springfield for the cheap rent/nice apartments.

Earlier last year, I was making arrangements to get out of here and move down to New Mexico. But hadn't heard from any of the hiring prospects in the months around the proposed moving date, and we ate thru the moving expenses waiting, found out a couple weeks later that the company went under, and the other prospective firms were able to hire any more staff despite prior arrangements. So yea, if that had went thru I'd be down in NM by now.

that's cool, man. i wasn't giving you any pity. ;) i hear you about not marketing yourself. i don't value my skills high enough and generally work for too cheap. workin' on it. good luck, bros.

Maybe if he stopped posting his witless drivel on every fucking thread and did some work then life would be better for him.

Hugs + Kisses

Oh I know, I was just mentioning what I wasn't expecting around here, because I've seen what happens to people coming around here bitching expecting some pity and handout.

you're eating tv dinners

By the way, I actually don't eat tv dinners, least maybe not more than once a month. The wife actually cooks everything and stresses against going out to eat (though sometimes we'll be bad and hit up culvers or something once in a blue moon). For example, lunch today was home made lasagna. :P so least there's an upside there.

Also having run into the problem before, when she went out to the store today she brought back several galons of water, we usually fill the jugs back up at the neighbors house when we go thru those. As what we used to do last winter when we had a problem was use an air pot (boils hot water pretty fast, not sure why they call it an air pot), to preheat water and mix with some cold for bathing and what not. (going without bathing for a day is the worst thing you can do to your spouse).

We also have a waist-heigh freezer that we stock up with meats and other items, even though it takes a lil more in electricity, having a big freezer of meats and such helps when you go without pay for a couple weeks. Since you can get meat packages really cheap at the local farmer's market precut and such. There's also a local asian store that mainly just the native immigrants goto, so if you know your way around that, its rather inexpensive too.

So it's not like we're dying, I just need to blow off steam every now and then and look at how to fix it.

Karl's a great coder, and has made progress in the self-marketing department. He's doing a lot better than even a couple of months ago. I keep encouraging him to branch out even more, but is he listening?

You know, you could bury the food in that snowy slope and the freezing creek to lower your electricity bill. That's what they did in Rome anyway :P

But then the trolls and other minions might steal it... :jester: Hehe, I've seen people do that with alcohol around here though, stick a 6 pack on a rope and let it drift in the icy creek for a lil bit. (though how they can afford alcohol and cartons of ciggarettes when trying to claim food stamps, I dunno :D)

From the way I've always heard it, I thought the difference between an Apartment and Condominium, was that one was owned and the other rented, but otherwise physically the same kind of thing.

Nah. Condominium (or condo) is just another name for a town house, often multiple stories.

I meant to ask earlier... why are trailer parks almost always build in a flood plain or in tornado alley? Whenever a flood, tornado or hurricane hits, you can be sure a trailer park is going to be wiped out.

Anyways, good luck!

@Karl. Sorry about winter and all, but you still need a less emphatic sig. Maybe a kitten or a bunny?

Kitten?
