Taiwan is ok. The women are hot, no doubt about it.
The internet is a sham though, just like everything else here. I pay for an 8M line but the actual throughput is far far lower. They offered me a fiber connection a few months ago, but after talking with other foreigners, I found out the fiber is even slower.
They are just incompetent here. The fat pipes are in the ground and high speed is possible but they are idiots. Things like DNS and load balancing and caching DNS are just way too advanced for these people. You can raise hell, and after they send idiots out multiple times, you might get lucky and have a guy that actually has a clue AND is willing to do something productive, but the blazing high speeds only last a few weeks before some yahoo in the CO screws it up again. The good news is that the internet rarely goes down completely and I've never had any sites blocked.
Thailand is great, but the internet goes down much more often. The Thai firewall will sometimes block porn (it's illegal) and of course anything remotely close to breaking lese majeste laws. The political situation is also still a bit unsettled there, but presently no big issues.

- Hong Kong - Blazing Fast Internet - women are ok.. ususally short,inbred and bad skin with a few gems mixed in
- Mainland China - Internet is Erratic, you need Open VPN to function. Food is horrible and women are pretty nice, though nobody speaks english in the whole place
- Taiwan - Fast Internet, Tall and Fair Skinned Women who want to taste western cock, Nice place for a bacholer
- Phillipines. Internet Generally sucks unless you are in Makati. Food is uneditable, women are psycotic bitches.
- Vietnam - Sexy Bitches - Fast internet in certain spots. You are kinda king here as the tall guy amoung all the short people. Though generally I prefer thailand
- Laos - Backwater
- Cambodia - If you like pre-teens
- Maylaysia - Blazing Internet - Really sterile place - actually good for someone trying to run a serious business. Women are ok.... but sorta in their own world. . .
- Singapore - Similar to Maylaysia, but a little more culture and activity. You need $ to be here.
- Indonesia. - Skip it.
- Sri lanka - If you like boys.
- Thailand - Ahh land of smiles, my current home. Internet is not the best, but acceptable. Women love you long time.. . .
Great post! Exactly what I needed to know. I think you pretty much nailed it. Thailand has always sounded like a great option. Why do people keep talking about the 'smiles'? Are these verticle smiles?
Taiwanese are wack. They all try to look/behave like Japanese cause they are in denial of the fact that they are Chinese.

Japan's not that expensive if you come from a city in a Western country. When you factor in taxes and tips (sales tax 5%, no tips), it's cheaper than Vancouver. Rents in central Tokyo can be fucking high, but that's like one tiny dot on the Japan map.
Internet here is mad fast if you get hikari fiber connection. I think I've gotten torrents downloading at 3 mb per second before. No sites are blocked.

I'll generally echo the internet parts of this. I'd add that internet's fine in most CBD areas in The Philippines - pretty much if there's a call center or two around then local PLDT is going to be zippy. Ortigas is fine in Manila as are parts of Cebu, for example (and presumably other oddball rural areas). Thai internet's gotten better, even international, in the last year or so and the True 4mb and 8mb packages are almost as good as run of the mill DSL back home in America in bandwidth terms these days, but the international latency is still pretty annoying (though better). Saw a map of the country's internet infrastructure once, it was the usual mess of lines connecting this to that and that to this and then when it got to the international connections there were three lines, only two public. I hear there are two more that aren't publicized, but I forget what they were supposed to be for. Probably CP and the military.
Also, yeah, food in The Philippines is rancidly bad compared to almost everywhere else. As a friend says, "Ever seen a Filipino restaurant in the rest of the world?" I hear there's Jollibee in Southern California, but outside of huge enclaves it's hard to imagine anyone else eating enough of it to support one. On the flipside, even Starbucks has armed guards, so you're always safe (lol).
