On the firing line
Had a couple people ask me if I had to pay my own way to ASW, would it have been worth it. And the answer is an overwhelming YES!!

I can't thank MKrongel enough for the opportunity to attend. I met a lot of WickedFire members and made some new friends. Learned a lot, and got to network with people that I never would have, had I not gone.

Some quick notes:

Best Quote of the conference goes to CeciliaH:

CeciliaH at ASW said:
I only made $250,000 last year, is that enough to get me out of 'newbie' status?

Turns out she did that in 5 months. I think that $50,000 per month gets you out of newbie status and propels you to "baller".

Tallest person there: Lerchmo at 9 feet (maybe not, but he's really tall)

Fun poker partner: Surly - we sat at one of the table games based on poker for about 5 or 6 hours straight and had a blast

Diorex and I had a nice conversation at the Copeac party. That is one person that should really post here more often. Wicked smart and just an all around nice guy. Too bad he's making a ton of money and busy as hell :D

Jon really impressed me with how personable he is. For some reason I thought he would be really shy in person, but that wasn't the case at all. He's super nice and a hell of a networker. He seemed to know everybody there and would take the time to talk them all.

Danielle really is as beautiful as people talk her up to be, MK is one lucky guy. No, I didn't witness Jon sexually harass her, he was a gentleman the few times I saw them chatting it up.

Mike Krongel is still THE man! He knows this game like no other. If you ever get the chance to sit down with him, do it. Thanks for the help Mike!

Chrislingle, what can you say about chrislingle...Some of his first words to me when I met him were "Have you met any asshats yet?", my response "Only you, Chris". I think he saw that coming. Great guy, lots of fun.

DruSam was also a great meet. He's exactly as I pictured him: nice guy, super smart, well spoken and a lot of fun.

I_Like_Cock: what can I say about ILC? What you see here is not necessarily what you get. Class act, even though he was sweating alcohol all weekend. Looks a lot like Phil Hellmuth. Sorry, cockman, had to be brought up. :D

Brandon doesn't look as much like Conan O'Brien as Jon would have you believe, although the description is accurate enough that I could pick him out of a crowd. Oh yeah, and he got to see Hoff outside of Paris (I believe) but was too pussy to go and ask for an autograph or picture. At least that's what Jon said. Another super nice guy that I didn't get to spend much time chatting up. Oh well, I'll corner him at ASE and we'll sit down.

Got to spend some time with AndrewWee, super blogger. For some reason, I had imagined Andrew to be a reserved, quiet one. Wrong! Andrew will talk your ear off if you give him a chance. That's a good thing, because he has something intelligent to say.

Mill - now that's a guy that has something to say. I think we stood around the registration area just jawing it up for close to a half hour. Dan was there and Surly, but neither one got a word in edgewise. Mill's probably the only person that can gab as much and as fast as me. (ask anyone that was there, I jabber a lot)

<edit>
Jdog (sorry, told you I was tired), exactly as I imagined. Great guy, very personable. Had the chance to sit down and chat a couple times. Probably the most genuine people I met. Oh yeah, fuck you too bud! :D
</edit>

I also got to meet Kaveman, PlanetAndrea, Rick, engaged, Saadh, DanNicol, ExEnigma, and many others that my poor, tired brain can't recall at this moment. If I forgot to mention you, it's nothing personal, the synapses just are not firing right this morning.

All in all, the conference was everything I hoped it would be and more. If you're serious about kickstarting your business you need to be at ASE. Don't think of it as a vacation, sure you'll have fun, but if you go in with a plan and some goals you will really get a LOT out of it.

Pics of ASW will be in my blog tonight. I'd post them here, but there are too many. So, I'll just put up a couple.

~Mike~

Told you I was tired. Just added Jdog to my list above.

No tat yet. It's still going to happen, but I'll let Jon announce the details.

LOL, it was good talking to you too. I got way more out of talking to WF people face to face than I did sitting through all of the sessions. I agree with your summary, I have seriously underestmated a lot of people on this board. Andrew and Andrew Wee especially.

I'm kind of tired too, that 20 minute drive was fucking killer.

The thing that I found really funny, is that I talked to a few guys that only post on here a couple of times, but they know their shit and are making bank. It kind of made me realize that I tend to think the new guys are automatically asshats, but some of them are making my annual salary in a month or two.

Awesome write-up Mike!

Very detailed and picturesque, really brought a part of the atmosphere to the rest of us.

For the record the sessions really were dissapointing. You had the choice of like 4 different classes to attend:
1 merchant track
1 affiliate track
2 general classes

I attended mostly the affiliate track sessions, and almost everyone talked about merchant shit that did not pertain to affiliates. I went to one that was marketting your affiliate site outside of the box, and it was all about doing stickers and t-shirts and shit. At the end someone asked the speaker how much traffic he is getting from this and he said 200 uniques.

The one put on my chris jones from pepperjam was good. Andrew, shoe and jon's would have been good, but they got hosed with the format and stupid ass questions.

Yeah, no reason to pay for the conference, just go down and have some fun.

I can't say I learned much at the sessions. Just meeting everyone and networking with a few random people was totally worth it.

I agree that you don't need to actually attend the conference to get a lot out of Affiliate Summit. Right on Lerch. Sorry we didn't get to chat, you looked a little rocked out, and whenever I saw you I was trying to duck out because the noise or crowds were getting to me.

My only regret was I didn't meet everyone from WF that was there. I heard Tangem was there and didn't get to meet him. Smaxor was there, and I saw him but never got to say "Hi".

It would be abso-fuckin-lutely beatiful if we could set up a true WF networking session at ASE. Like a couple hours or so in the afternoon. If you thought I was a WickedFire cheerleader before ASW, you ain't seen nothing yet! After meeting the other members, I feel that this truly is the best fucking forum on the web, particularly if you want to learn affiliate marketing. Sure, there's a lot of bullshit and fucking around, but when you work hard, you also have to play hard.

Thanks again to EVERYONE for making ASW the best! Can't wait to sit down and chat with you all again at ASE!

I had a great time. Definitely worth the trip.

Great meeting all you guys in person.

I'd second the "don't pay for the conference". Just go shoot the shit in person. I spent almost no time in the exhibit hall or sessions and doesn't look like I missed much.

Well i had a blast. Met a lot of these guys on here,, and yeah LURCHmo was as tall as shit. Seo-Mike was cool as hell, as we did play a few hands at a table. There was a lot of guys I met, and it was nice putting a face to them all. I guarantee that if we could do something like rent out a suite in a hotel, or a conference room,,, that there would be a lot of money made if quite a few people hammered out some ideas and plans.

I have never heard anything good about the sessions at one of these ordeals.. it is all about the networking. Especially in the forum enviroment like this,, where you talk to people so often then finally get to meet them.

Also I have to give props to Jon,, his t-shirts were really agitating some people... I just wish he would have made it more in depth,lol... like a lot more friggin schmucks on it,,lol.,,. Loved it

To all that missed it,, plan to get to Miami.
