I come from Russia. You know why so many people migrated to America from the old county. Freedom of Religion.
I personally know old timers that lost family members, some went to prisons in Siberia.
People were shot if they wouldn't give up God. It was a very scary time for Christians.
On the lesser note; jobs, homes, personal property was taken away.

But seriously I need to stop. To much time already.

The word 'theory' is used differently when describing things in science, like the theory of evolution, the theory of relativity or the Big Bang theory. In other words, they can be subject to change, but given current scientific knowledge, they are fact.

Freedom from religion too. I have just an equal right to my atheist beliefs. (Should I be forced to believe just like others in history were forced to drop their beliefs?)

I don't know why my lack of belief is such an issue.... don't you believe I have the freedom to not believe?

The point is religion has killed more than non-religion. Estimates are at around 800+ million. Atheists are generally peaceful people. We don't run planes into buildings and kill thousands in the name of religion, and we don't invade other countries and slaughter thousands and thousands because God told us to.

You speak of atheism as if it were another religion. Being atheist is the lack of belief in God. You were born atheist and only through indoctrination did you believe what you believe now. Remember that.

Atheism has a short history, give it time. Most religious people I know are actually really friendly and would hurt a fly. They also give lots of money to good causes on this planet. Specifically America, as you know its mostly a Christian nation. Disaster after disaster, and the Christians crusaders are there to help.

Both Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are atheists. And they have both given BILLIONS of their OWN dollars to charity (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation)

Nah, you don't need to believe in evolution to be an atheist or agnostic. There are a million good common sense reasons for denying religious fairy tales without even entering into experimental data.

Also, we're sorry that you don't understand the basic idea behind science.. which is that we actually admit to ourselves that we do not know the answers 100%. Even if we have a theory, we admit it is often not the whole truth and sometimes not even an accurate representation of reality.

Science is continually improving and evolving and questioning itself. Which is why it beats the shit out of any religion when it comes to finding out what is actually true.

So, we seek the truth via experimentation and reasoning. And even while arguing with you we will always admit that there is a super super tiny chance that the judeo-christian god exists.

We make decisions and actions in our lives based on the theories we think are most probable.. since anyone honest with themselves and others will admit that they're not 100% certain about anything whatsoever.

Atheism is believing that there is no god. You can believe in no god without attacking other religions, just like you can be a Muslim without attacking Christianity. Religious intolerance is not restricted to one group of people or one religion type.

Since religion is such a core value that it is pointless to even argue. At least one person in any religious argument is acting on faith, and it is impossible to logically argue that one faith is better than another. So really, the arguing in this thread is retarded.

Yes, I would assume there is a designer. Humans! and humans came from mindless natural processes. So therefore the rosetta stone comes from mindless natural processes (essentially).

And what's even more complex than the rosetta stone? Well....the thing that created it, humans.
