It's pretty interesting that some questions of how it really feels like being autistic will finally be answered. I always thought that autistic people are not sick, just differently wired. This story kinda reveals it.

Good for her!

I could never buy into autistic people having lesser intelligence just based on how many end up with savant abilities.

My take is that their cognitive wiring just happens to be different and it manifests in different ways. Haven't there actually been experiments where people have electrodes put on their heads to block certain brain signals, rendering them unable to speak, but no loss of capability to understand.

There are brain injuries that occur that cause you to know what something is, but simply cannot find the words for it.

I'm not saying this is the case either, but it is definitely a controversial theory. That maybe some forms of autism give people access to their subconscious. It's this part of the brain that is responsible for epiphanies and figuring out complex problems seemingly out of nowhere.

Or they simple aren't afflicted with our inability to keep irrelevant information out of the calculations necessary to solve a problem. Certain problems they just see clearly because the way their brain is wired, all that gets in our way of problem solving is filtered to them.

That was mind blowing. It just shows what man can do when he is completely focused. Really a great example for the others.
