Banning the word "Penguin" and "Panda" from BST's?

First off, I'm very grateful that I've been able to make money off of the BST section all this time, previously for free, and now at a cost of $36 every 10 days. This is in no way attacking the mods decision.

I'm not sure if the new rule is up for debate but in my opinion it serves no purpose and is a form of censorship. Do people actually fall for "Penguin Tested" in the title? What if it's been actually tested? Why not let the buyers decide for themselves instead? My 2c. Discuss.

I would also love to hear the mods reasoning behind this.

Probably because "Panda" has nothing to do with backlinks and "Penguin" is too new to make any conclusions (also "Penguin" is iterative, which makes all BST "Penguin" related claims illogical). It's all speculation at the moment and BST looked a lot like WaFo after Penguin hit.

I get your point about censorship, but zingo can only deal with so much bullshit and BST drama. Eventually, something has to give. lol

It was either this rule or they were going to turn every thread starter over to the FTC for false claims!

I wasn't involved with the discussion, but love the rule.

Do people actually fall for "Penguin Tested" in the title?

Yeah, so that's one side of it I'm sure.

It's also trashy as hell and makes the SBT look like a snake oil bar. Pandas, penguins, zebras & magpies are just trends that people are riding when they don't have the creativity to do something new. The quicker buck is to just play off google's catch phrases and claim brilliance.

On the other hand, stating that your links are immune to specific filters and algorithms that nobody has access to ... not sure I really have to finish that thought.

I'm obviously not speaking for the mods here, but I imagine if someone posted a thread "Ultimate Links v2982398 - ACTUALLY penguin tested - data inside" with a breakdown of REAL data showing penguin effects, the mods wouldn't mind. I sure wouldn't.

This rule stops a lot of bullshit, but if someone can actually say something and back it up I doubt it will be a problem. What do the mods think of this?

Because it's a load of shit.

Nothing is penguin or panda tested in BST, at least to a proper degree or conclusive.

The buyer should be explaining what their product is and how it works, not making outrageous unprovable claims.

As a buyer I want to be able to see what each package is and how it works, not every other word being "panda busting" or "penguin killing".

But my SEO Thundercock v3.11 Rainbow Interlinking Linkdodecahedrons really do bring your site back from Panda and Penguin penalties. I know because I've tested it and also I have all these reviews, just look and see:

I would easily pay 3x the cost of these rainbow colored links. My site was slapped by penguin to page 15 and now is sitting comfortably at #5! Thanks mikeshinobi you're fucking amazing and I would suck your penis every day

guerilla, I thought you were about "letting the free market decide".

Oh well, back to Diablo III. ;)

So what if a service provider offers links with anchor text distribution that is similar to natural sites, and offers those links on niche related properties?

It certainly does not guarantee that it is penguin proof, but I think it would be fair in the title (or description) to say that this service was 'designed to combat penguin'.

Of course there is still the fact that every link provider is creating a new thread and saying that it is 'penguin proof' despite the fact that they changed nothing since penguin, and it probably wasn't penguin proof back then.

This is letting the free market decide. WickedFire is a privately owned entity.

Wickedfire is free market. It's private property, and Jon, through his agents, erect and zingo, set the standards for behavior on his property.

I don't really care what people put into the titles, but I do appreciate that in order for Jon's ownership of the forum to have any meaning, he has to be able to create conditions and exclusions, or there is no point in paying the bills except to be everyone's bitch.

Censorship would be the USG telling Jon what he can and can't publish. Censorship is when you try to control other people's property, not your own.
