Hey everyone, need some quick advice. I have a site ranked high for quite a few keywords and for certain reasons i am unable to make money on this site at the moment, it took me about a year to rank the site and i now know a lot more about seo and so i can rank a new site for those keywords a lot faster and in time for when i have everything in place to make money on the site.

So anyway someone who owns quite a big company related to this keyword contacted me (I researched his email address etc and he is legit) anyway after a lot of negotiating he offered me $11500 which is a huge profit :)

this is the first time i am doing something like this. what would be the best way to do this deal? i was thinking escrow?

Anyone who is experienced with this got some advice for me?

Escrow is a must when dealing with that kind of figure. If the offer is legit than your buyer should have no problem with it. However expect to pay the escrow fees.

the buyer has no problem using escrow. I know alot of people use escrow and its supposed to be very safe however i have never used it before and thats why i want peoples advice first. the fees arent a problem as the profit involved in this deal is huge

Just say offer accepted, and start the escrow, wait for cash, transfer domain, get cash, move on. It's not complicated beyond that.

I've read that especially domain transfers with escrow are not that safe as they seem to be. There should be some related posts on google if you search, unfortunately I don't have the exact posts anymore.

yes you escrow and draw up a contract and get the buyer to sign it , then scan it then send you it too,

you can find a simple one on flippa

Escrow is a good place for trade however for domains it is not too safe. They have also mentioned about domain issues on their website. However its upto you..

Actually Escrow.com is not that good for the domain seller.

They can still pull a scam since it's based upon the whois. If it's a big reputable company you shouldn't have too much to worry about especially if you have a contract.

I prefer Moniker escrow since they protect the seller based on the actual transfer, not upon the whois info.

EscrowDNS or Ecop are made especially for handling domain names. I tried them both and both did a great job. Ecop is even a bit cheaper then the first option.

Haven't used Escrow.com because i did not have a need for it :)

What about direct bank transfers? If the buyer is willing to wire the money directly to your bank account after which you will transfer them the domain, is there any risk involved with that?

That would protect the seller, but the buyer would be left wide open. Some banks will handle an escrow account. Talk to a bank manager. Their in the money business after all.

What happens if you use escrow.com to sell a website. You transfer the domain ownership to the buyer and he enables whois guard privacy on the domain so escrow can't verify whether the domain has actually been transferred or not? Does the escrow provider simply do a whois lookup or do they contact registrars directly to find out the whois info if its set to private?

Escrow.com is good. But agree. Go with moniker, 100% secure for you.

They escrow domain from you and payment from buyer. and then give you payment and domain to buyer.

But in escrow.com, they verify whois change. But I believe escrow.com have strong system to verify ownership change, then make you payment.

Best option is moniker.

Good luck
