Being Frugal Fucking Sucks

Or you could go with a compromise. Shell out 2 grand for a regular Gibson Les Paul and you'll still have 4k for your projects :D

believe me... saving money brings you no where.

no one ever became a millionaire due to the interest being paid on his savings account. you get rich by doing the right and profitable investments, but not by saving.

by saving money, you do only one thing: providing more cheap money to my employer, a bank. they laugh about all those cheap fucks who save their money and totally miss the point, that money in a savings account is dead money.

for 10k, you get like 300 USD interest.

now, realistically, those 10k should make you at least 1k a year if invested wisely into the right business.

it is funny, but most people mixup consumption and investments. they think, that certain goods have no value and are just "used up". that is nt quite true however. a lot of goods have a value that can rise over time, you just need to make the right choice.

rich people buy things that make them richer :)

e.g. your car might be worthless in ten years. a db vantage will probably double up its price during that time :) that is the way you should see spending money: looking out for investment opportunities even in the most simple things.

I don't know anyone (at least in my generation) that thinks their savings account is going to make them rich. I call it a savings account cause that's the name the bank gives it, but what it is for me personally, is my Catastrophic Event account. ( income loss, sickness, death...etc) Anybody with any money smarts should have one of these (maybe two).

Must be a pretty nice studio at 550 a month... :error:
I actually love being frugal. It's just in my nature to not spend money. While I have nothing against people who love material things, I personally hate having a lot of stuff. I live in a studio apartment (albeit a really nice studio apartment), drive a ten year old car and sleep on an air mattress.

It amazes me that people want so much stuff. I think about all the people in the world that just want food and shelter and it makes me feel like a king.

All of my bills for a month, including food and gas, only comes to about $550. I'd rather spend my money on traveling the world. Why buy a plasma screen television and watch the travel channel, when for the same price I could actually... travel.

I think we all have it within us to be frugal. Hell, I lived on less than $10K a year back in college. Those were the most fun years of my life. It's all about your mentality. Unfortunately, many people subscribe to the school of thought that they have not really "made it" if they don't live a lifestyle that is "appropriate" for their new status in life. I don't buy that. There's no iron-clad "role" for people. Instead of chasing after roles (and the imagined respectability it brings), maybe it's better to chase after one's happiness instead?

Awesome. I'm the exact same way. I don't want a bigass house with a bunch of crap I don't need. A modest one bedroom apartment is perfect for me. If I had the cash I wouldn't be in it much anyway--I love to travel and would go all the time if I could afford it.

But until then, I work my ass off with affiliate marketing and keep climbing toward my goals. :)

Amen. The #1 enemy of savers is INFLATION. Most saving accounts are flimsy if not downright ineffective shields against inflation. Investing your money in mutual funds or other investment vehicles yield better results than savings accounts.

That is a fantastic book btw; I read it when it first came out. I don't know if they've updated it since the original publication, but even taking into account quick money made in the dotcom and real estate bubbles, it still has some amazing info in it.
