We'll hunt elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center, and dig clams next to the skeleton of the Space Needle leaning at a forty-five degree angle. We'll paint the skyscrapers with huge totem faces and goblin tikis, and every evening what's left of mankind will retreat to empty zoos and lock itself in cages as protection against bears and big cats and wolves that pace and watch us from outside the cage bars at night.

You take a few hits before you write that?

Don't count on it.
We'll have all these other new prophets popping out of the woodwork, and people making others into prophets.

"Oh shit, global warming's happening just like... umm... umm... Ben Bova said in one of his editorials for Analogue!"
"Woah! A sci-fi writer getting a lucky guess about potential event without much defining detail as to the specifics or actual date right?"
"No man, he was obviously foretelling the future!"
"You're right! Quick, let's make a book telling everyone about the hidden code in his writing!"

Fair enough.

But my Grandma can still kiss my ass.

Does this mean Chow will become one of the most informative sites on the net after 2012?

I thought they said a huge comet was supposed to hit us in 2012...how many ways is the earth going to be destroyed that year? wtf

IronLogik: Isn't that from one of Chuck Palahnuik's (sp?) books? Fight Club maybe?
Speaking of Chuck, you've got to read Choke... It's like he finished writing Fight Club, cracked his knuckles and said "You know, I want to write something REALLY fucked up."

I love how much further the book's version of Tyler's prophetic monologue goes. Great, great author. I read Survivor, which was hilarious in a twisted way, but have yet to tackle Choke. I've read some excepts and they're fucking sidesplitting.
