If you don't use Dynadot.com so you should start now. They are the best.
Namecheap is the second in command

Im using 1and1 and havent had any problems that arent quick fixes or turn out to be user error :)

The canned responses from their phone support can really piss me off sometimes

You are so fucking lucky and you don't even know it.

RUN NOW and you just might get out of a world of hurt.

Yeah I think I might check out namecheap. No need to transfer anything yet, but I wouldnt say I have much brand loyalty to any host right now.

No you need to transfer everything.

1and1 is a company from hell. Their support consists of a couple indians with a phone sitting on top of a stone wall.

They rip you off, overcharge you, falsely advertize, have a buggy interface (though its a bit better then before) and on top of that charge you extra for things that are just expected as part of a basic hosting package.

I like Name.com

I have used Godaddy, Netfirms, Namecheap and Name.com.

Netfirms and Namecheap are not ICANN Registrars and it makes a difference. When you buy a new domain or make changes they have to communicate with ENOM and that doesn't always work smoothly.
Netfirms is terrible I have seen changes take hours, and their interface was a pain in the butt to deal with. They changed their system not long ago and a domain that was set for manual renewal got renewed at something over $11. Got my $$ back from them, pulled it from them and ended up with a free year, I guess ENOM kept theirs :D (all my domains that were there are now with name.com)

Godaddy has a very difficult interface, and I get sick and tired of their endless upsells. I guess that's why they're the biggest registrar and host around, I stay as far away from them as I can.

 Name.Com Rocks
Name.com is the very best. The cleanest, simplest and fastest interface. Easy to set up masked redirects and Google Apps
I have registered a new domain there and had the website resolving as fast as I could get my browser switched to my hostgator account.
You could save a $ or so by shopping around, but at $7..39 for transfers and $8.49 for new and renewals and free privacy (you have to use coupon code "freewhois") Everything, about 90 domains, I have is there or on the way.
The only thing you have to be aware of is that they don't have sales or support people 24/7. The biggest opportunity for problems is credit card processing. I'm in the US, but I think it's a bigger potential problem elsewhere. If you are going to try to buy anything there at night or over the weekend, you need to set up a small credit balance ahead of time.

internet.bs

- Paypal payment
- offshore
- privacy included (or semi-fake info to begin with)
- decent pricing
- API

What more would you look for in a registrar?

I still use GoDaddy and have no problems until now. Their support make me easy when get the trouble :)

2nd'd

These guys are in another league imo. I have accounts with godaddy, namecheap ONLY to grab those $1 deals, I transfer to internetbs as soon as I can. Do not hesitate to use them...

I love GoDaddy, expecially their "we can remove your domain and charge you 75$ to release it whenever we like" policy is great.

I've used 1&1 , GoDaddy, & NameCheap. (Well network solutions but that was ALONG time ago.)

1&1 sucks balls on a level that no one can ever compete with.

Namecheap is awesome, thats where i keep serious domains, Ill buy some ones on GoDaddy now and then if they are having a big sale and I dont really plan on keeping the domain long term.

I could write a 50,000 word article on how 1&1 sucks, if we agree GoDaddy is crap then 1&1 is crap that you have crapped out and re-eaten and crapped out about 30 times.

The 3 current votes for 1&1 are either misclicks or employees because not even a retarded ape would say 1&1 is even mediocre.

So namecheap.com sucks when you have a ton of domains bought over the course of time. No automatic renewals, whoisguard renewal is not free and needs to be manually added to the cart. That sucks when you have a lot of domains, and I'm going to buy a bunch more this year.

So here's what I'm looking for:

1. Do you accept American Express?
1a. If yes, is it a US-based transaction so I don't pay fees?

2. Do you keep my credit card and automatically renew with it? Hopefully yes.
2a. If not, what about a pre-approved PayPal automatic renewal?

3. Is free whois privacy available, and if so, does it also get renewed?

4. If all is well with the above, how much are transfers into your service?
I'm not interested in pre-loading money into the account or doing manual
work on over 100 domains.

That's the e-mail I just asked name.com

Internet.bs looks good but they don't auto renew unless you dump money in the account first, like namecheap. I'd like to avoid that. The above list would be my PERFECT registrar. Hopefully name.com comes close.
