Well, Im not sure.
There are a lot of people that Love VB.

Digital Point have V4 installed and I cant see any problems with it.
Its fast and looks nice.

Need to do some more research , but im sort of swaying towards VB.....

I run a game site with VB3 (decently popular with 200k posts and 20k users). Doing anything with the layout (and mind you I'm a designer/coder) was always a bit of a pain in the ass because of its terrible templating system. Unless you're very very familiar and have a ton of experience with the vB system, doing anything yourself whether it be theme customizations or plugins is a challenge.

After VB4 was launched I was super disappointed.. They didn't change up their terrible templating system. It's all done in the backend and there are like thousands of tiny templates where html is spread across. It's a puzzling mess most of the time.

Yeah, VB4 works fine if you have no plans of customizing anything, but if you do; be prepared to pull your hair out or hire someone whos life revolves around VB.

Obviously the guy who made VB has left and started his own thing (XF), I'm sure he took what he learned and has made something a lot better and more flexible.

A few big forums that continue using VB is no justification for using it as well. They may simply choose not to switch because it would be a massive headache with the amount of data involved.

That is because Shawn is a developer himself. If you go through his posts you will realize the time he puts into it.

Lots of bullshit to handle IMO.

How could you lean towards VB after reading my post alongside everyone else's posts about it?

Just because Digital Point is using it?

That guy has tens of thousands of posts on the VB support forums and does an incredible amount of backend customization.

I used to be a vBulletin guy just like everyone else and have managed (and still do manage) a couple of large forums. However, as of late, I have been playing around with Xenforo - XenForo - Compelling Community Forum Software

I like the fact on how simple the overall admin panel is, yet at the same time managing to include every single detail of running a forum.

vBulletin was great until the Internet Brands buyout and VB4.

I really like XenForo so far. I jumped ship from vBulletin to IPB a while back, but never really liked it as much as vBulletin 3. I could see XenForo passing both vBulletin and IPB in the future.

Xenforo all the way. I wouldn't even consider anything else now.

Been looking at Xenforo, looks a lot better then VB

Just don't go with VB, its a board that has clearly gone down hill.

This. I'd definitely go with XenForo or vB 3. I used to be a big vB fan but vB4 is horrible in my opinion. The default design/layout is hideous. PeerFly will be using XenForo for our publishers forum. :)

Is it easy\possible to change forum software and still keep all content+registered users etc?

Wow - reminds me I have a Peerfly Account but haven't used it in a while. Logging in right now to check your offers.

If you ever need a development hand on the forum move, do give me a buzz!

It's actually pretty easy. Except for transporting the user titles/groups which is actually pretty simple for people who know what they're doing, but might confuse the hell out of newbies.

Most should have importers that will allow you to do this. From Importing | XenForo
With version 1.0.1, XenForo supports vBulletin 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8, and Invision Power Board 3.1

They also have an unofficial vB4 importer here: vBulletin 4 Importer | XenForo Community.

Thanks for the offer! :)
