Whats the best place for someone to start investing?

I'm just looking for safe options where I can put money in and forget about it sorta thing...it would be great if i could get 5%+ returns every month, which is slightly more than my high interest accounts pay.

thanks

I know of a guy that can consistently get you 12% returns here's a link to his bio Bernard Madoff - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .............. oh wait.

5% returns every month? That's 60% returns per year. Possible with AM, yes. Not possible, at least in this climate, with investments.

It's going to be hard to get it with a buy & forget investment.

The only thing I can think of is buying some low-income rentals, rehabbing, renting and then having a manager take care of it. You'd have to go for a mid-west state (I'm in Ohio, so there are plenty here) You could get into something for about $15k (25% down to purchase). And get about $600/mo in return.

I was with Zecco for the free trades but I don't know if I'll be keeping the account there, they recently changed the requirements for the free trade account to a $25,000 minimum balance.
